As far as I know right now. Cole Hutson was not on a preseason roster, nor was Junior Tuihalamaka at LSU.

Don’t think for a minute talks at LSU are already underway on counter suing the SEC and Stanley for damages.

Stankey may have to sell his frickin jet.

Because most journalists don’t do any homework for themselves and simply spout the established narratives. They are basically all reading from the same playbook.

their sticking point is the signing of nfl contracts. that's the arbitrary line.

And if being a pro is being paid for your time and skill, then under the NIL regime, there are lot pro players in college football. College football is no longer an amateur sport.
And there is no substantial difference between the 5th year players who didn’t sign a pro contract and those who did, but never played pro balI. I think college athletics now is a complete mess, but there is a lot of hypocrisy from the NCAA and the SEC. If you are going to give players a fifth year, do it fairly, not based on a technicality. Those that signed had been led to believe they didn’t have a fifth year.

What about overseas? Signing professional contracts. Then trying to come back and play.

Sankey didn't even fricking know himself.

All rule violations are ok if done by Bama, Texas, UGA...

They only a problem when done by LSU.

I'm not sure of all others, but to be in training camp, you have to sign a contract, which officially makes you pro.
Not all, but some others, didn't go to a camp.

No telling, but rumors at the beginning, were that Lane reached out to them and encouraged them to return, while still in training camp.

Again, not confirmed

No, they were not. They went to mini camps but never signed an NFL contract.

I do fully understand signing an NFL contract being where the line is drawn, that is logical.

But this is the NCAA's fault, they could have rolled out the 5 for 5 earlier in the year and avoided this mess.

Dudes like Harris, yep he signed an NFL contract. But he was undrafted, he signed an UDFA contract, never attended a single NFL practice, and was paid by an NFL team a grand total of $190. Him losing the ability to make upwards of $1million due to the NCAA botching this rollout is just royally screwing this dude.

I'm 100% ok with not allowing these 2 dudes to play, as long as Chambliss isnt' allowed to play. Ineligible is ineligible, there are no distinctions or differences or being more ineligible than the next guy. If Chambliss can play without any disruption, then anything Ole Miss, any SEC team, or the SEC itself says, they can F right off if they aren't treating Ole Miss the same way for doing the literal same thing

We talking about practice? Practice?? None of these EX-NFL players ever played in a game.

Correct, but they did sign an NFL contract.

But again, Ole Miss and the SEC has set the precedent that an ineligible player per the NCAA can come back and play, so LSU should go all out for the same right.

Same thing they do to Will Wade. Villainize WW and ignore the exact same thing in a dozen others.

Yeah, that really a flimsy differentiation too. And by the way as one of the posters pointed out here the other day.....

there is a contract the Texas guy and others like him had to sign to participate in the camp.

An NFL Rookie Training Camp Agreement (officially called an Injury Protection Waiver or Rookie Participation Agreement) is a simplified, temporary CONTRACT. It allows unsigned, drafted rookies to participate in early team workouts, minicamps, and training camp practices before signing their official multi-year slot deals.

A line drawn a week ago because it isolated LSU and let every other school off scot-free.

As of now, they are the only two players who signed UDFA contracts. All of the other players went to rookie minicamps and workouts which don't require what the vast majority of the population understand as "contracts."

And before someone chimes in with "participation waivers" are contracts, a player being invited to a minicamp isn't reported as signed, where as a UDFA contract is reported as being signed to a team. It's a fine line, but it is there.

I mean, that IS the exact point that you officially become an NFL player.

It's a waiver, it's not a contract with the NFL to become an NFL player. It's not remotely the same.

Right, i don't get why folks can't grasp the difference between the 2 players and the others.

I'll keep banging the drum, comparing these 2 players to Hutson and those guys is not correct. The apt comparison is...Trinidad Chambliss. Now you're comparing players the NCAA deemed ineligible to players the NCAA deemed ineligible. Since there is no difference or levels of ineligible, someone will need to explain why Ole Miss can play an NCAA deemed ineligible dude with zero repurcussions, while the SEC is melting down over LSU doing the literal same thing.

Yes, that's literally it. A signature.
The guy from Texas (UT) was waived by Philly and then signed by Cleveland. Was on the Browns roster.

But he didn't sign.
It's splitting hairs. Especially since signing only says that you're now a professional athlete. And that represents getting paid, while college athletes are literally getting paid.

The SEC suing us to hold onto their moral authority which already shot out the window a while back
