Probably the most accurate description of WW I've ever seen. Especially given the number of top 10-15 recruiting classes he bought.

He didn’t really have any recruits underperform, in fact almost all of them were more productive than their recruiting ranking outside of a couple freshman.

It’s almost like being in the tournament every year was fun

Heck, those guys bitched because we lost a couple games every season.

How the expectations have changed.

McNeese was #10 in the entire country last year in 3pt %. Try again.

Wish Woody would quit paying "Toadies" and put that money into NIL.

Woodward is too smart of a guy not to recognize the below. If we don’t get rid of CMM and somehow Wade stays at McNeese one more year - I think that would be a pretty powerful sign he wants to come back to LSU. We are a sleeping giant after all.

quote:

But to answer your question at large. While I loved Coach Wade, knew him as well as a student/third degree played in front of him enough times in high school, as well as had enough mutual friends in basketball circles to say this. Not only did LSU and Wade get screwed by mainly not even the powers at be but by media, a select few coaches in the Power 4, and then when the HBO documentary came out. it blew up even more The NCAA was not going to let him, “Get away with it.” By the end of Johnny Jones tenure, the program was on absolute life support, to the point, it was a much harder decision to leave a place like VCU to come coach at LSU. For a lot of fans, myself included, Wade was as excited and determined to win as had been since Brady and the Final Four.

Speaking for myself, felt like much the same way as Jay Johnson for baseball we had a coach that was younger, hungry, had a plan at all times, and did whatever it took to win (lol too soon or late?). He also was just different enough and having no real ties to become a true part of the fabric that is LSU and Louisiana basketball. Under Trent Johnson, under Johnny Jones, and as it stands right now under CMM, as a lifelong diehard Tiger basketball fan, he made us not only relevant but what he had put together going into the next year before being fired was his best team yet, with the transfers they had lined up and the #2 recruiting class in America, they were probably looking at an initial Top-10 ranking and give how his teams performed and the state of the SEC at the time finishing at worst 3rd in the conference with 2-3 losses. In 5 years at LSU we made/ would have made covid not withstanding 4/5 NCAA tourneys, and one NIT. With 4 in a row. Two of the tournaments he didn’t even get to coach in with one being a Sweet 16 appearance. Since Dale Brown he was the closest thing to potentially rattling off 15 or 17 straight NCAA tournament appearances. In 5 years he had 9 players that either played in, or built careers in the NBA. Some bluebloods struggle to do that. The energy and the juice was back, and lastly CWW had that, “F you” aura and personality as it related to competing against others, that a lot of the best LSU coaches in various sports have had.

If you want to call him a "cheat", feel free. There are grounds. But he's never had a losing record in 11 seasons as a HC. So I don't know if the "loser" label applies

And you are right, that's because it doesn't.

well McNeese is going to the NCAA tourney again this year, and LSU might not even be invited to the NIT.

Wade sucks. Only time you chime in on MBB. TLDR reading other thoughts, that's your wheelhouse. When do you... you... TigersJump... discuss actual MBB?

Have no problems with Wade as a coach. McMahon isn’t the solution here. If you’d actually look at the posts, I’ve posted many times that I’m not a fan of any coach and only a fan of LSU. The issue has always been all of you constantly bitching going on 3 years now for the same Will Wade shite. It’s littered the board damn near every day for 3 fricking years. Got that or is that concept too complex for that little nugget in your skull?

They liked him because his offense was simple enough for them to understand. Stand still and then don't make a shot for 10 minutes.

making the tournament and pulling an upset here and there is the exact way to win a title
