Ump today was bad - he threw multiple fastballs right across the chest that were ignored.

Some people confuse honesty with hatred. He doesn't have a reliable secondary pitch. That remained true, even today, but he was able to throw the ball over the plate enough, and with the weather conditions pitching in, it was a solid outing.
I see people talking about "not having patience", along with the "haters" accusations flying around, but saying that someone doesn't have an out pitch is not hatred, nor is it a lack of patience. It's just an observable fact. There's a big difference between saying "he doesn't have an out pitch" and "he'll never have an out pitch".
I'll take today's result 10 times out of 10 from him. The process, however, I don't believe is sustainable, and we have more than enough sample size to back up that statement. With his fastball, if he had any kind of decent second offering, even if his location remained iffy, I think it would make him extremely formidable.

Shores is all upside. He has the build and velocity you’d want out of a major leauge starter.
He also has some pretty rough advanced stats and has had some bad starts.
Not convinced with start today. He was good but weather was made for pitchers.
Hopefully he can string some together.

Noone hates Shores. We are all pulling for him. Some people are just concerned that he has a blazing fast fastball that goes straight as an arrow and is too hitable.

IMO, he moved the pile forward. Still a work in progress.

Facts. We have a winner.

I dont think its hate he is the most vulnerable of the 3 starters.

I think a lot of people, myself included, set some unreal expectations for the kid with all of the hype surrounding him. At the end of the day this is still a kid that only pitched 18 innings as a freshman, is coming back off of an injury, and basically hadn't pitched in 2 years. There is still some development needed but those thing dont happen overnight. Thankfully he is showing signs of progress.

I think the problem is the way he pitches. Always seems to labor out on the mound and many times takes batters deep into counts. He always seems to mess with fire, but then you look at his stats and they are not that bad.

Which ones? They all look pretty average to slightly above average to me
