What do you want BK and Sloan to do?

Teams are loading the box and we can't throw downfield because of injuries apparently.

We also have 5 new starters on the line.

1st game against Clemson, Sloan called a great game against one of if not the best d-lines in the country with two projected 1st round picks.

It wasn’t that great

15th in SEC in rushing yards
15th in SEC in total offense.
11th in SEC in passing yards

There are 16 teams in the conference.

BK just said Sloan is doing what he is asked to do.

Not sure how much more basic the answer can get.

A lot of people who have never played or coached think they know better than coaches who have out years of hard work into the game

Called a great game? We had one sustained drive. Our defense was responsible for HALF our points.

He called a great game by punting all but 2 possessions?? (FG at half doesn't count)

Nothing will be done. Sloan is BBQ buddies with Blake Baker. Both were coaches at LA Tech.

This is stupid. What about Brian Kelly makes you think he wouldn't make a change? Kelly doesn't care about BBQ buddies.

Because we have a cast of highly talented WRs and RBs and we are getting production out of a fraction of them

Exactly we are loaded at the skilled positions and have not used them like we need to.

Do you know what tendencies are? Do you know what sequence play calling is? Do you know what route concepts are?

We have established tendencies that make out offense predictable which leads to negative plays. We have no sequence play calling, i.e running multiple same looks but with different plays that build off of each other. That helps in making it unpredictable for the defense to know what you are running and more difficult in diagnosing what you are running post snap.

Our route concepts are not syncing together. Whether that be by alignment, depth, or concept. We have had some decent ones but have for the most part really poor concepts since week 2. This was actually a problem we had last year and it got resolved the last 3 games of the year but it was a real problem at times last year. We have the exact same problem this year. It leads me to believe that we are either not coaching it right to where the players understand their routes and how to run them. Or we are making too many changes at the line and the receivers don't know the signal to the changed route concept. Its probably a little of both but its leading to receivers having the wrong depth on routes and running into other routes and routes not even making sense in their synching.

Now Nuss did have 2 really bad plays but physical errors are going to happen, you just want to limit the mental errors. The decision to throw to Durham in the flat instead of the open corner route was appaling. And then the int was a bad decision. Other than that his decision making was good but he did miss a few throws.

Wait what? Clemson’s Defense is nowhere near the top and their team isn’t even in the Top 25. That win was misleading so if and when we lose our first game, our ranking is going to drop like a rock.

Sloan is the main coach/person tasked with developing Nuss.

Grade since last season: D

If he can’t develop the QB, then how can we trust him to develop the offense?

He was retained to keep Underwood on campus. Once that fell thru, Sloan should have been relieved of his OC duties. He may be a great recruiter but as a play called he is suboptimal! Time to get someone that has some creativity and can get the ball in the playmakers hands. We need someone to match Blake Baker on defense. You don't need a top 10 offense with Blake's defense but you also can be sub 80 either. The defense would be even more aggressive if they could count on the offense getting 28+ points a game.

No they aren’t. They’re playing a shitload of 2 deep and begging us to run the ball on them. They’re telling us that until we show that we can run the ball, they’re taking away our intermediate to deep route concepts and are perfectly content with us constantly being in 3rd and 6+.

I understand we have a weak OL.

I’m not sure it’s really a weak O line. They do very well pass protection. They suck at run blocking. Just like last year.

The weakness is coaching
