Hilliard and Magee both in backfield also? I'll definitely check out some of it. Curious if any of these LSU guys will play well enough to get another chance in the NFL.

I found this on the CBSSports website

quote:

When will they start playing?
The AAF's 10-week, 40-game regular season will begin Saturday, Feb. 9, at 8 p.m. ET from Spectrum Stadium in Florida, where the Orlando Apollos will host the Atlanta Legends; and from The Alamodome in Texas, where the San Antonio Commanders will host the San Diego Fleet. CBS is scheduled to broadcast the AAF's Feb. 9 Opening Day, while CBS Sports Network will then carry one AAF game each week throughout the season.

It also explains the league.

Yeah looks like Mett, Jasper (he’s from Memphis), Gilmore, Freak, Hilliard, Magee, Montgomery, and Wing

I'm kind of hoping the NFL and AAF can have a good working relationship. It sounds like a good, ambitious goal. They are awarding players scholarships to go finish their degree, they are enrolling them in financial literacy courses with mentors and stuff like that.

Another thing I'll be keeping my eye on are the rules changes. I fully expect that some will eventually be adopted by the NFL: 30 second play clock, NO EFFING TV TIMEOUTS, no kick offs or extra points. Turning onside kicks into 4th and 10's from your own 35.

It'll either be a disaster to watch unfold, or it will be a fun product to watch grow. They have clearly invested a lot of money in the product.

Just kinda hate the name Memphis Express.

That didn't even start until the 1940s, anyway.

and the players out on the field for the anthem didn't start until the DoD started pumping in tons of marketing money following 9/11. That's why there's so much "support our troops" stuff during games now. The simple solution is to have the players come out after the anthem again. The LSU team isn't out on the field for the anthem and no one cares.

I'm interested in it but has there been any promotion for it? I don't watch a lot of television but I figured I would have seen something by now. I mean it's starting up in about 3 1/2 weeks.

From what I understand Colleges have “affiliated teams” in the AAF. Memphis gets LSU players.

They’re not officially affiliated with LSU but that’s how they’ve set the rules up. So I think all former LSU players will play for Memphis

As do I.

But I don't need anti-patriotism either. Which in my view the whole kneeling during the National Anthem conveys.

You are exactly right. And it’s why I agree with Nola. It just gives them a chance to shove it in our faces that they are anti American or whatever they claim.

I worked with former Cowboys DL Jim Jeffcoat this past year. He's going to be an assistant on Spurrier's staff with Orlando. He told me a lot about the league before he left the office.
I told him WHO DAT!
Super nice guy, though

you're getting blasted, Mulat, but I'm with you. Sports is entertainment, and I don't want to see political/social statements being made. Very few of us do.

And disregard the millenial SJWs on this board -- kneeling for the anthem is disgraceful.

The AAF could easily develop to be an NFL developmental league. A lot of good athletes on the rosters. Beginning Feb. 8, 8 teams playing a 10 game schedule. Great for a football junkie like me in the, for now, offseason. I’m in !
