The AAF players are making about $83K a season ($250K contracts for 3 years)...that’s not NFL money but certainly making a ton more than someone who has just graduated with a degree.

How are they able to afford salaries like that? Some seed money involved? Is CBS really shelling out some dough?

The AAF could easily develop to be an NFL developmental league. A lot of good athletes on the rosters. Beginning Feb. 8, 8 teams playing a 10 game schedule. Great for a football junkie like me in the, for now, offseason. I’m in !
This is exactly what it should become, if it takes off.
The CFL and various Arena leagues are too different. This is the best shot for the NFL to have a developmental relationship with another league.
I think the angle of focusing on major college football markets and using regional and local players is a smart hook that may bring in some fans who would normally pass. It looks like CBS isn’t just their broadcaster, but is actually taking a leadership role with the league. That is good, as sports leagues live and die with TV contracts.
The old WFL and USFL were trying to compete with the NFL. Both wanted to be like the old AFL and merge with the bigger league. From what I can tell, this league has much more modest goals. That will help them succeed.

Don’t worry about the SJW jackasses on here. Most people don’t like entitled disrespectful idiots who think insulting the country is a good communication strategy.

I am. He's why I'm rooting for Memphis this season.
