As I said it before, I really like the idea of a four-year player getting it. To me, Tre White was the perfect recipient -- great player, great person, committed teammate.

John Gruden's Draft phone call to Foster Moreau sure made it sound like #18 was a big deal

This is no contest. Joe burrow leads this team, not Rashard or divinity. Here's a few things you guys seem to be forgetting...

18 is passed on from SENIOR TO SENIOR and given to the leader of the team and one who displays the most work ethic.

Maybe some of you don't care about our tradition of 7 and 18, and yes its a tradition, but it adds an interesting dynamic to us fans, it attracts recruits, and motivates players. If you see it as a pointless tradition, you're probably the same morons who think bowl games mean nothing.

This is our chance to put 18 onto the back of a qb again and lead us to the ship, it's almost storybook, so bet your arse

Joe will be 18 and delpit will be 7, just as I said ages ago.

I think Burrow has proven he is a leader and team player. Just think about how quick this team got behind him and the things he did last year.. hell he won me over when he got in the middle of the fight with Miami the first game of the season and came out throwing the L up

The two players probably best remembered for wearing the number were not seniors when they got it. Tre White and Jacob Hester.

False. Tre White has it as a junior and senior. Jacob Hester has it for 4 years.

It often goes to a senior cuz they are usually your leaders but being a senior is in no way a qualifying factor.

Rashard Lawrence came here as a freshman as a five star choosing LSU over Bama.

He's been a team leader for four years.

He came back to LSU this year when he could have gone pro.

I like Joe, and LSU needs Joe to perform well to have any chance at the playoffs.

But it's going to be awfully hard to pass up a Louisiana man who has always put LSU first.
