Morris and Flau’jae. Poole isn’t quick enough.

No one. Just ask Louisville and WV. 41 back-to-back.

Clark was able to play off of the Lady Cock player she was guarding to double team in the lane. This allowed her to rest on defense. We can't allow this to happen. We need to make her work on the defensive end to help blunt her offense.

Good point

It's the national championship. Any team that makes it this far will be a match-up kronlem in some capacity. They're probably saying the same about us.

IF Clark shoots like she did last night it won't matter. SC threw every type of defender at her - smaller, same size and bigger - and she took all of them to the basket or got the shot she wanted off the dribble. Game tape will be vital to see who was able to get her off her game.
Make someone else beat us Sunday. Clark will get her points, but don't let her go off for 41. We need our perimeter contributions too. We need to knock down some outside shots to bring that zone out and open it up inside for our two bigs and lanes for Morris to take it to the hoop. Should be a great game.

Can't put morris on her due to foul trouble risk. Need A double down low to stop dribble drive

Poole gonna knock on Clark’s door tonight and show her what the Bronx is all about.
I wish she still had her Bronx look going.

Box and 1. Poole can harass her a bit, and then double team her whenever she blows by Poole. Easier said than done, though. Major props to Clark.

You can't let her facilitate too often to her teammates. South Carolina did a poor job guarding the high ball screen. Too many layups for the screener when the screener's defender got caught in the middle. South Carolina did a poor job rotating their defense. They rely so much on the rim protectors (this worked all year until last night) that they did not force the extra passes needed to allow the defense to catch up.
Her defender must fight tooth and nail over the ball screens. She will get her shots and make a bunch. What we give her will determine how efficient she is likely to be. Make her shoot on the move. Make her shoot long twos rather than threes. Guard her past the three point line, but not too far. If she makes 40 percent on 30 foot threes, no one will beat them.
My guess is that Poole will start on her. Poole is quick enough, strong enough, and tough enough to cause some grief. Let Poole try to tire her out. Hope that the two-day turnaround and a relatively tough game last night will decrease her efficiency. If we limit her to less than 40 points, rebound effectively, guard everyone else, and are relatively efficient on offense, we can win this game.
As I said above, we have to make her work on defense, too. Get her as tired as possible so that we can put them away in the 4th quarter.
We also have the X factor on the sidelines in Mulkey. (Don't forget that Starkey has seen it all as well.)
I know that we are slight underdogs and think this is understandable. But I like us to win this game!!!

It's going to be a challenge, but let's not pretend that they didn't lose to Maryland 96-68 along with 5 other games including Drake taking them to OT.

No one on this team has the speed and quickness to contain Clark. Double team her or lose. Note, she has a very quick instinct to spot and pass to open players; sometimes even surprising to them.

It’s gonna be Flau’Jae, dunno how this is a conversation. Morris is far too small and Poole does not have the speed and length to guard her consistently.

great post
SC did a terrible job on the high screen and roll, no defensive rotation whatsoever
clark’s threes hurt but they didnt kill SC as much as her dribble drives, SC made a big show of denying her high but they really didnt deny her from getting the ball whenever she wanted. by playing her so high, they gave her all the driving and passing lanes she wanted
my defensive plan would be to play off her a little bit, keep her in front of me to take away her drives, clog up their offense inside the three point arc and challenge clark to shoot long threes deep in the shot clock. if clark comes insides the arc with the ball, double her, rotate the defense to the ball side and make her give it up. clark can have all the 22 foot shots she wants, take your chances with her shooting long threes. she was 5/17 from three versus SC but 10/14 from inside the arc.
Long three pt misses become long rebounds that ignite a running game. It is tough for one player to consistently hit threes as the primary component of your offense.
SC and Staley fell victim to their ego and instead of adjusting their gameplan, they got tighter on clark which played right into Iowa’s hands. Going out four feet past the 3pt line to guard her didnt hurt clark at all, but it did over extend the SC defense

so, this clark girl is a steph curry type...there's no one person that can stop her..freak for sure..either a matching zone(2-1-2) or a box and 1 (rotate the one who is in her jock strap)..being physical with her will help to tire ,but it appears her lungs are like the energizer bunny..fun to watch...geaux tigers...

Right - even if Clark scores 40 - if the rest of the team gets nothing we win
