SW has 6 national championships during his 6 years here

I get he was the AD for the 2019 football season but does he really get credit for that?

As for hiring coaches, Broadhead was the best.

I don’t know who the best is but Alleva is easily the worst. What a repugnant human being. I hope he rots in hell.

Yes, Joe Dean is the worst......

But he did save LSU 500,000 dollars hiring Curly Hallman.

Brodhead came to LSU in 1981 from the Miami Dolphins, where he was business manager.

LSU’s football team represented the Southeastern Conference in the Sugar Bowl in 1985. Last season, the basketball team advanced to the NCAA Final Four and the baseball team made it to the College World Series.

Broadhead. He was a leader with Tiger vision when LSU sports was rare on TV, and had all the teams playing well. If he had stayed, football and basketball would have had as much success as baseball in the 90s.

Mark Emmert Never served as the athletic director. He was chancellor

In November 1999, LSU named Nick Saban as their 31st head football coach. Bertman was named LSU's athletics director on January 19, 2001.
The AD during that time was Joe Dean. When Emmert got word Nick was interested, Dean said, “ I wonder how much he wants?” Emmert said, “Let’s find out if he’s really interested!”

If he stayed, we could have won a NC, with him as the HC.

Worst was Joe Dean

Agree, Dean questioned whether to give Saban the historic contract that Emmert pushed through. Dean would’ve lost Saban and settled for another DiNardo type.

Alleva was a tool, but at least invested in facilities as the Tiger Stadium beautification was long overdue.

I think Woodward is doing a pretty good job as AD

He just doesn't handle football hirings well! Men's basketball is a cluster as well...sucks that those are the two highest revenue sports!

Jim Corbett - he and the Gov. McKeithen used to recruit for Mac. Once they were gone Mac started slipping and it was decades before we really recovered.

He’s done some really good things and some of the worst things as well.

The good;

Mulkey

JJ turning out way better than anyone expected.

Jay in gym

correct all good

Coach BK

?? say what you want about how it has worked out but he went out and hired the best candidate available by resume, period

quote:

overpaid

is he? because all the big names are paid about the same and you were stealing him from another power...you cant nickel and dime that

quote:

too much spent on buyout money for bad contracts.

this i agree with

quote:

after not an organized search

you have no clue what so ever if it was organized or not. you literally had zero knowledge of the search and the inner workings just like I dont and neither did the media. just because there were no leaks doesnt mean it was unorganized.

quote:

His actions toward the players on the Will Wade roster before the NCAA tournament, treasonous.

Men’s Basketball hire, awful

i agree basketball hire was bad and should have kept wade but im biased as wade was one of my neighbors here in LC and I like him and his wife as outside of the basketball. and to be fair the hire was really good on paper, sometimes these things dont work out.

quote:

George Floyd LEDs at Tiger Stadium, unforgivable

wtf you talking about? The LEDs are nice and add to the experience especially for younger people. Believe it or not, everything isnt about the 50+ crowd

quote:

Cowering to BLM and blasting the logos at every venue, a fireable offense.

i agree but understand the pressure the universities were under from athletes, protesting organizations and even the government at the time unfortunately.

Les was a mistake with Jimbo in the building

They wouldn't hire Jimbo without head coaching exp, because of the mess Mike Archer became. I also don't think Jimbo was ready for the job at the time either. The 90's were still fresh in the collective memory.
