If it's based on college only, with facts plus proper persepctive, its Josh Reed hands down.

Only Biletnikoff award winner, still at the top of the record books, in an era when it was not popular to throw the ball 40-50 times a game.

In the 07 Auburn game there was one play where lafell was as wide open as anyone can get. I was at the stadium but I’d imagine that he was the only one on screen on the broadcast. LaFell bobbles the ball and flips it so high in the air that the Auburn DB caught up and picked it off. One of the worst stretches of yips I’ve ever seen from a guy who outside of those 4 weeks was a pretty damn sure handed WR.

Jamarr won the Biletnikoff and Malik was robbed of the Biletnikoff.

True. And they were great.
But i join another poster in wondering if the actual answer should not be Josh Reed.
He just played the game at a time when offenses were much more run oriented.

Hard to compare the 20th century guys to today, as the game is much different. Guys like Todd Kinchen, Eric Martin, etc, all the way back to Gaynell Tinsley...were beasts in their day

The difference would be exactly what he wrote - that they didn't re-record it; they edited it. THAT's the difference.

Hmmm… so they edited a recording but it wasn’t re-recorded. Got it.

I agree which why I made my list "since 2000". You can't really compare guys that played in 1980 to spread WRs now.

I don't remember anyone being "that guy" quite like Josh Reed was.

Wendell Davis would like a word.

Josh Reed was unguardable.
Chase & Jefferson are both above OBJ and Landry.

Yep, I called him Butterfingers in 2007. Honestly, Lacy reminds me a bit of LaFell. Throw him a difficult ball, traffic, sideline, high and he makes the grab. Give him time to think about the catch or after the catch and oops. Hopefully Lacy is like LaFell and it clicks for him this season.

I'm going Josh Reed. Not just because of the numbers, but also in the era in which he did it. He played before all the rule changes that made playing receiver much easier and during a time where the run game was still leaned on heavily in most offenses. I think his style of play would translate to any era of football and he would be successful.
