I was not aware of the Sanctuary requirements. However PETA is definitely against LSU having a live Tiger and especially driving him around the field.

Back in the 1970s they used to bring Mike around the state. I remember them bringing him to Shreveport and setting him up in some parking lot so people could go see him and take pictures.

Me .. was on the field when Lee was qb and saw Mike on the field in his trailer. And again one year when we played Bama .. you’re welcome for the hex that I put on the Bama sideline that year.

Remember them brining him in. Always good to see the big guy there.

It would be nice to find a way to allow Mike to walk around the field when the stadium is empty. What a photo op! Mike could walk around like he owns the place.

but it’s the type of thing that brings unwanted PETA-esque attention to the university. I

They brought him to the sugar bowl in 2001.

I remember Malcolm in the fire truck. Good guy. Became a doctor. I am still surprised that drunken people became the best doctors in the south.

Doesn’t change the fact that’s what it was called.

I was at that game but I got the jersey mixed up. The Jersey exists and I have one in my closet. The jersey was from 2011 and was called the "Rulers of Fall" jersey. It was a one time thing and they wore it against Auburn. Jersey

Amazing in so many ways.
Sure, they toted Mike around the stadium during pre-game, but it was not only the visuals but the accompanying sounds.
Upon returning to in front of the student section, some cheerleaders and the human mascot would yell and pound on the cage to get a response from Mike.
At times he'd actually spring at his "tormentors."
Then the best of all. When he'd growl with the sound going across the stadium, the students in one grand unison would answer him with a loud chant.
Sometimes that was repeated twice more, making it even more impressive.
But it was the sound that made some imagine it as a trip back into the past.
Making some wonder if this is how it was in Rome during the time of the Circus Maximus.
Only thing missing was hearing a chant from the participants something to the effect:
"Hail Caesar! We who are about to die, salute you!"
Why Tiger Stadium had its unofficial name: The Arena.
Why that grizzled announcer Beano Cook, who was so impressed with SEC football generally, specifically described the LSU pre-game ceremony at night as "nothing like it anywhere else in college football, and was the main course."

I am really surprised in this day and time that the crazies out there allow us to even have a tiger. That tiger lives better than most of us. Hope they(LSU) don't ever give in to the crazy people out there.
