Will Coach O relocate Deculus along the line or try out someone with better motion and technique? He looked totally owned last game. For an experienced lineman to play that bad against a DE, hoping O can find our freshman QB some better protection.or it’s going to be a long long night.

I don’t think they really have anybody they can slot into any of the spots on the line to improve protection. It’s just a spot they are weak at currently.

I commented on this in the game thread Saturday. He looked slow and weak

Has anyone heard if O is experimenting with some changes relocating guys along the Oline. Jeezz he’s got to do something to slow down this avalanche to our QB

O was asked that question on his radio show last night, although no players were mentioned by name. He said that we have some talented young backups on the OL but that they are not ready yet. Some need more time in the weight room, some need to get used to the speed of the game. Translation - we are screwed for this year.

It's not like last Saturday was the first time the OL has struggled this season. So if there was a backup available to play whom the coaches thought was better I would imagine he would have gotten some snaps by now. That leads to a second question:

How bad or just "not ready" are the 2nd and 3rd team guys if they can't get snaps on an OL that has had many struggles? Hines has been inconsistent, at best. Yet, there appears to be ZERO thought of getting Bradford and/or Thomas on the field. Both were very highly recruited. If they aren't good enough to play in year two on a team having a ton of OL struggles, then when the hell are they going to be "ready"? Or did the coaches just COMPLETELY misevaluate their talent?

That leads me to believe that either the coaching staff is doing a poor job of recruiting or not getting the guys they recruit in a position to succeed. If you think a player is good (and you must, because you recruited him to your school) then get him on the field. If the guy is just not ready yet, then do whatever it takes to get him ready. If the guy ahead of him isn't playing well then how much do you have to lose by giving the next guy a shot. If he is worse, then you reinsert the slightly less worse starter.

I know he went out in routes most of the time, but Moss really helped in pass protection last year. He would often chip the DE on his way out into the route.

I haven't been paying close enough attention this year to see if Gilbert is doing the same or not. Maybe they're not asking him to, or maybe he's not as effective.

They have to start chipping on Deculus side with a RB and occasionally a TE. Show creativity here, don’t just lay down and take it.

He wasn't great last year. A lot of our O-Line problems can be solved with a little bit of "give a shite". Just bust your and you'll be ok.

There’s bound to be a grad transfer from Yale or Princeton that can fill the void.

Deculus and Hines have been swinging screen doors that never swing closed at all.

Thomas was injured. In the last month. Orgeron has said that he is not fully recovered. He has called Bradford our most talented lineman, so I don't know why he isn't playing.

He still the second best OL we have. IMO our OL is ranked like this:

1) Ingram (played bad vs A&M but he is clearly our best)
2) Deculus (not great but he at least tries hard)
3) Wire/Rosenthal (both suck)
4) Shanahan (not as physically gifted as SEC OL)
5) Hines (I dont understand how he played so well in 2018 and sucks so bad now. He might be the worst OL we have started in the last 10 years.)

Deculus looks out of place on the end, he appears too heavy and slow.

No doubt he is not very good but we have no one to replace him with and he is far from our worst OLman.

At this point, I think Torey Carter would be a better guard than Hines.

He's been getting his arse handed to him the better part of the year, thus far. I would say if there was something that could be done about it, it would have been tried by now.

I’m sick of hearing there are no options, there is no urgency, no creativity to help in protection.

Yep. I don’t understand how he was that highly touted in high school, has been in the program for this long, and still looks this bad.
