I didn’t say they weren’t similar. I said LSU is a more decorated program than Auburn or Clemson, which they unambiguously are.

FTR, we're still waiting on our "Spurrier."
LSU Coulda/Woulda/Shoulda hired the actual Steve Spurrier back in the 80's after Arnsparger resigned

He was coaching in the USFL as HC of the Tampa Bay Bandits.

If I remember correctly, he interviewed for the job.

LSU could've had him right then and there, but the LSUAD Buffoons (Not much has changed, huh?) decided to hire Mike Archer because the players wanted him, which turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes in LSU Football History!

And he would have bolted the second the Florida job became available a few years later

The World Famous Ohio State University. People forget that it's only been the last 25 years or so that tOSU has been dominant other than 2 or 3 years during Woody Hayes were the Nat. Champs. Beyond that they would not win the Big 10. You would have WI, Purdue, Iowa etc going to the Rose Bowl just as much as MI or tOSU

Since 2000 id say it’s Ohio State. All time, I’d go with Miami maybe? Hard to say considering LSU didn’t hit the ground running until 2000. They were decent from time to time prior but nothing sustained.

Ohio State because our states are similar in how everyone is all in on the flagship program. Resource wise they are on par. Louisiana has an edge in talent though.

4 national championships since 1958

Seems like the best comparables are: Georgia and Michigan

You’re welcome. There used to be a site called College Football Data Warehouse that was awesome, but it went kaput.

Florida State. Capital city, great fanbases, 3 or so national titles. It sucks we lost those two games but it felt that could be an annual rivalry.
