Hawkins, Herman, Gill, Morris, Bielema and Anderson

Herman did not surprise me....He used to win big games at Houston then shite the bed against an SMU

Bielema did surprise me. He had a lot of success at Wisconsin.....of course he lived off of all the hard work Barry Alvarez did ( if you are looking for a type, you go and find a Barry Alvarez...Wisconsin had been horrible for 10 years prior to him coming)

Hawkins did NOT get any support at Colorado not from the administration and not from the boosters overall.

Turner Gill is the example of moving a guy up too fast

"Cheeseburger" Charlie Weis... and to add insult to injury, ND gives him a 10 year contract after a close Loss in the "Bush Push" USC game....

I read an article about Harbaugh several years ago . He would take prospective recruits and tell them “ Hey , you would make a great fullback . We can never have enough fullbacks here .” Why would anybody want to go there ? I think he lost the MIchigan St game more than M. St won it . I never understood the Harbaugh fascination . And to think at one time , they wanted to make him “ Coach in perpetuity “ ! Like the Pope of football !??

I never understood the Mullen fascination . Prescott looked very mechanical , like a body builder , under Mullen . Dallas coaching and lots of hard work made Prescott the QB he is today , not Mullen .

Who are the “hot names” that everyone wanted LSU to go get instead of settling for Ed O?

Where are those hot names now and what are their results?

It’s a little sobering. I’m no Ed O defender, but schools had better be really, really careful about what they wish for.

I think even Ed’s supporters thought he needed good hires to make it work. I was saying it during 2019, as long as O can hire like this and recruit he will be fine. Obviously all that completely fell apart, some of it not his fault………but yes it all comes back to the head coach. I wanted it to work with Coach O because I love LSU, but we all know its time to move on. Hopefully a home run hire is coming and not one just to appease pc culture.

I never understood the Harbaugh fascination .

He was a first time HC at San Diego (college) and went 22-2 in his 2nd and 3rd year there. He then got the Stanford job following a 1-11 season for them. The program was at maybe its lowest point in decades after 5 straight losing seasons. In year 1 he pulled off a massive upset in beating #1 USC. By year three they had a winning record. By year 4 they finished 12-1 and #4 in the final polls.

He then became the HC in San Francisco and took a franchise who had not had a winning record in 8 years to 3 straight NFC championship games and one Super Bowl. The franchise has only had 1 winning season since he left.

Harbaugh was VERY successful at every stop before he eventually returned to Michigan. It has been surprising he hasn't had more success there. To say you "never" understood the Harbaugh fascination is viewing him through the prism of hindsight. NOTHING about his career prior to Michigan suggested he would not have great success there.
