Anybody saying the 70 is just wrong. I think I went to just about every game. After 73 or so it was downhill. Several 4-5 loss years and 3-4 years of no bowl game( which was a big deal then). Fan base got very divided over the “ help Mac pack” crowd.

I starting going to games with my parents in the late 1950's. I went to both the 1971 ND game and the 1979 USC game, as well as the 2003 UGA, the 2012 Bama game, etc. The quietest it got during the 1979 USC game is about the loudest it got in any of the other games. In the Tuesday State Times newspaper, Coach Robinson was asked about the noise in Tiger Stadium. He said, (sorta quoted), "We've played at ND, at the big house (Michigan), Rose Bowl, etc. In any case, we had Hollywood sound effects guys line our practice field with speakers. We'll be okay." Gauntlet throne, the Tiger Fans were the ne plus ultra of loud fans, anywhere, anyplace. Even though we lost, the 1979 USC game is the best game I've ever attended.

Yea the 70s were the loudest - besides the games you mentioned there were also the 17-16 win over Ole Miss and the 6-6 tie with #1 Nebraska

One of the loudest games I remember. Earle Bruce held OSU in the tunnel and wouldn't come out first. Crowd was absolutely apeshit. Tom Tupa was the QB and punter. When he went under center on the first drive, the crowd got so loud he just looked to the sideline and tapped his hands to his ear holes like "I can't hear". Getting chill bumps reliving it.
And it was a day game which made it unusual.

Tiger Stadium was at PEAK all the time, up until the point when all 3 of these combined to initiate the decline.............
1.) LSUAD priced out many long time die-hards that couldn't afford season tickets any longer.
2.) LSU put in too many parking restrictions for $$$$$$
3.) Pre-Recorded PIPED-IN MUSIC started to override and deemphasize TGBFTL. Still don't why this was initiated and continues. Whomever is responsible for this is "Demon Possessed Evil." Ultimately, it's the Athletic Director's fault.
The Piped in Devil Music started sometimes in the early 2000's. Don't remember the exact year. The Athletic Department Devils just kind of slowly phased it in.

Late 50’s with Paul Dietzel. White team, Chinese Bandits, Jim Taylor, Billy Cannon, Warren Rabb, Johnny Robinson. Those were the days. Kids could go on the field and meet players. It was a better world and better times

Some people are saying the 80s, but I disagree. I was in school in the early 80s at LSU, and the team mostly sucked. Yeah, the stadium was fun to go to because of all the drunk fans, the sororities and the pledges who were getting hazed in the stands. But The quality of the football was pretty bad though.

2000-2010 and anyone that says anything different is being en old person homer
You saw a sleeping giant awaken and a fanbase not used to being elite becoming elite which made them rabid
Two National titles
Multiple sec titles
It’s when tailgating and everything also went to the next level of insanity as well(which honestly is part of TS problems today IMHO)

They went to an Orange Bowl and two Sugar Bowls from ‘82-86’ and won 10 games in ‘87. Those Bowls were a big deal in the 80s.

When the stadium was smaller from the 1960-80s, the stadium was really loud. There were only a few college games on TV, so sellouts were common and attendance was highly valued. Ticket prices were more affordable for the working class. After touchdowns, commercial breaks were about one minute long, so upon return to action the crowd was still in a frenzy. Students were far more into the game than they are now. At one point, students numbered 15,000 per game, and were seated, with the band, behind the LSU bench around the 10-20 yard line. More games were nightly, the bands played often, and the spectacle was very real. The stadium is far larger now, but it's not always capable of living up to the hype despite the reputation.

Article on LSU USC 1979 Game
I was at this game, it was an awesome game until the "Phantom Facemask" penalty against Benjy Thibodeaux fueled the winning USC touchdown with less than 40 seconds to go in the game. I played high school football against Benjy when he was at Notre Dame (Crowley), he was an amazing defensive lineman.

Earle Bruce held OSU in the tunnel and wouldn't come out first.
They later became good friends playing for the Detroit Lions

I see a lot of old folks on their phones as well..
Since they won’t show the replay on those extremely large screens right there - we are on our phones trying to see the game.
