Better coaches obviously. Only a guy like LM can squander the type of talent we have had

What are the chances this really made you "lol"? Slim to none.

But your unfunny, cutesy sarcasm is in top TD form.

Gary Patterson is a better coach than Les Miles.

TCU has always been pretty good and they have good facilities. Baylor has kind of been up and down over the years but they have a new Stadium. When they were in the old Southwest Conference all you heard about was Texas, Arkansas, and A&M.
TCU had nearly 40 consecutive years of absolute suckage (from the early 60s until the late 90s). A&M's active winning streak against TCU is 24, just to give you an example of their consistent futility. Franchione had one good year (with Ladanian Tomlinson), left, and Patterson got the job. Patterson turned out to be a good coach, they made hay against the weaklings they played on a regular basis, and parlayed that into a Big XII invite.

Baylor sucked a lot more than they were good throughout their history. Grant Teaff had a good 20 year run, but other than that, and a few good teams in the 50s, early 60s, Baylor was abysmal. They made a good hire in Briles and he has turned it around for them.

IMO, both Baylor and TCU have benefited from a dropoff by not just Texas, but OU and Texas Tech as well--particularly with regard to recruiting, OU's demise has opened things up a lot in the Texas recruiting game.

I think everyone pretty much knows that Baylor and TCU were bottom feeders for decades..

Bottom line is COACHING. It's not rocket science. Purely great coaching and great offensive minds running the offenses. Not to mention great player development.

Briles is a good coach? Did you see him blow a 21 point lead today? Good coaches don't blow 21 point leads.

Your reading comprehension is abysmal. TCU and Baylor are both good this year, but the guy I was replying to said that TCU has always been good. Just trying to correct that misapprehension. What Patterson has done, given TCU's history, is remarkable.

To be fair, Baylor was nothing before Briles showed up. He's completely turned that program around and it's not what we would call a recruiting hotbed. That being said, he's managed to develop (or hire coaches who develop) the players he has to compete at a high level. My hat goes off to Briles. Baylor would be a scary team if it had a top 5-10 recruiting class every year.

Didn't Miles blow a 21-point lead to Tennessee in Tiger Stadium in his first home game?

He blew a 28-point lead to Texas when he was at Ok St. and lost by 21. That seems impossible, but it happened.

He did.

And many on the Rant think he's not a good coach. Just showing that Briles must not be a good coach either.

Well since they have been more than that I will consider you a biased idiot.

FWIW TCU is currently 1 of 5 teams in the nation with one loss or less. By the end of next week they will be in the company of 1 or two other schools at most.
