Nah, I guess some of us were precocious. I understood it to be more than spectacle before 11 or 12 at 8 and 9. Then again we did not have video games, hand held devices and other technology distracting us back at that time. It was all TV and radio.

We held them to 119 yards and forced TOs. Watched it on TV but was not there live. The game was more decisive than the score indicated. Maybe your memory is a little foggy:).

As great as it was, and though I’ve watched it over and again, it’s still not in my Top 5 REGULAR Season games:

1 2003 UGA (attended)
2 2007 UF (attended)
3 1997 UF
4 2001 Bama*
5 2000 Tenn*

*I have an uber high affinity towards Ro to Reed.

I think I would certainly have the ‘Earthquake Game’, and probably ‘Bring Back the Magic Game’ and might even also put 2007 destruction of Va Tech above this Bama game. Then there is still the Bluegrass Miracle (attended).

Yeah, I LOVED this win and love this team, but it’s too shortsighted for me to put in my Top 5 for sure.

Legion Field in Birmingham. 17-0 at halftime. Bama had no first downs. Tigers band turned around in the stands and played to the fans after the game. The stadium was otherwise empty and they turned the lights out. Exiting the stadium, Bama old timers congratulated us and said it was the worst beating they had ever experienced. LSU fans were dancing on top of RV’s. I’d say I remember it pretty well.

97 Florida
11 Bama
07 Florida
03 UGA
19 Bama
88 Auburn
01 SECCG
95 Auburn
02 Florida
02 Kentucky

My LSU fandom is similar to yours. Born in 1981, started watching in 1987 but games seemed like less of an acid trip around 1988. I would say listening to the Auburn game in 1988 with my dad really solidified my fandom of LSU football.

Well, it's hard to beat Bert Jones last second touchdown against Old Miss in 1972........

This. I’m old enough to remember this game (but I was a really young kid).
But the Earthquake Game, both BCS championship games, the 03 UGA and 07 FLA rank up there. But right now 11/9/19 is hard to beat. There’s just something special about this team as a whole. It’s the way they interact with each other, like they’re brothers. They get just as psyched when a teammate makes a big play as they do when they’re the one making the play. I love this team!

I agree with the majority here, but one game that meant a lot to me was the 2010 Bama game in TS. They had beaten us a few times and we came out that day and won the game. It set us up for a good 2011 season until the mulligan.

Number 1 in games watched on TV.

Out of games attended:
OU 2003
Bama 1982: was in college, danced on top of RV, gatored in middle of stadium downramp with Tigerband having to go around us, bars in Tuscaloosa refused to open Saturday night after the game, so everybody partied in the street. I still remember a purple and gold convertible doing Starsky-and-Hutches (180's) over and over.

When you were 11?

Okay.

I started following LSU when I was four (1966). I started following closely when I was five. By closely, I mean laying on the ground in our living room by the radio for every game. Why are you shocked by 11?

I've been going to LSU games since 1964 and a we have had season tickets for over 40 years. Even while living in Houston for 10 years, we made every home game except 03 GA when I was on a business trip, and we attended all the NC games. This past Saturday was the best ever, mainly due to all of the social media, ESPN, SEC network, etc attention that was paid to the game. It was possible this week to relive the game just about every hour on the sports shows. That game, and the possible NC, could be an evolutionary move for the Tigahs.

Top 5. Made kids cry with my yelling but being at 97 florida was tops. Would take a undefeated NC win to top that
Me too although I was at Legion Field in 1982. Pretty hard to beat.

Maybe so

I'm early 50's now. Went through elementary with Hokie's little brother, and we knew his big brother was at LSU. So that must have been 8-9. I remember Woodley and Ensminger, I remember Ensminger throwing a deep bomb to someone, kinda sticks out as an early memory. I remember watching LSU lose to Mizzou in a bowl game.
Most of that was radio, or TV for the bowl.

But something kicked in, in 82 (I was 13 then). What previously was "Oh cool, LSU is on" changed. I can still close my eyes and visualize the LSU-Oregon State game, watching some unknown and unheralded freshman tailback make obscene cut after obscene cut (Dalton Hilliard), and end up with over 140 yds if I remember. And then Garry James come in and do almost the same, with less moves and more speed. I used to be able to quote stats for most of the team on demand, from Marshall's sacks, to Martin's catches and return yds etc.

Funny thing, I really think basketball kicked in first- I remember Macklin's teams, and I remember Jordy sniping away from outside and Scales being a beast inside. So that was 79 or so. But at one point I could tell you the daily averages of everyone on that 81 team.

That utter obsession with sports spilled over beyond LSU- I forget what year it was, but I had the Southern-Mississippi Valley game on the radio the year Valley had Totten and Rice, and had a bunch of pennies (11, to be exact ) pulled out. The announcer was good, and described Valley's formations as they lined up, and I would quickly place the pennies in the correct formation. They'd stack 4 WRs one behind the other, with Rice maybe third, and defenses would just get cremated.

Ah yes, fond memories. You could say I was a fan before that age, but at around 12 or so I entered a phase where, although otherwise a normal kid, I almost wonder now if I was "on the spectrum" regarding sports . I've mostly grown out of that, but there are still times I can look at a football game, and pre-snap I see a touchdown, if they call the right play. I recall that during the LSU-Ole Miss game with Fournette, telling my family "if they run a toss sweep to the right, he's going to score"; and sure enough they did.

11-9-19 and ‘97 Florida are 1 and 1-A in my opinion. Followed closely by 03 Georgia and national championship game against Oklahoma, and i had the good fortune of being at them all.
