At the hackneyed Louisiana art store? Seriously, if you're going to put mass produced shite in your house, save some money and go to Hobby Lobby.

It looks like someone photoshopped that jersey on the dog. I don't think Rodrique painted it

He did paint it and the money went to the Art 4 Education program.

are their like poster prints? ones that are not 500? more like 50? im not about to drop 500 on a graduation present

One of my customers had one in his office he said he paid close to a grand. Here is a poster for cheap. Doesn't really compare but I wouldn't pay a grand for that painting.

What a racket this guy runs huh? Prolly got high one day and decided it'd be funny to put a blue dog in an average painting and now he's rich off of it.

Its no racket. I saw the guy on C Span a few years ago. He explained it all and was very down th earth about the situation. He explained how he decided to put the blue dog on the painting and surprised that it became so popular. Blaming him for taking a fools money is like blaming an athlete for taking millions for throwing/catching/hitting a ball.

Well said. I guess he's doing something right with a studio in Carmel that's been open for years. Amazing people can't be proud of someone from Louisiana making it big.

I missed out on the initial run of the LSU Blue Dog and have been looking a ebay for several months. As an OP said, if one comes up on ebay, it will probably go for more than $500 since there aren't any available.

i love Rodrigue's work...his use of colour stems from Fauvism; "Fauvism has its roots in the post-impressionist paintings of Paul Gauguin. It was his use of symbolic colour that pushed art towards the style of Fauvism. Gauguin proposed that colour had a symbolic vocabulary which could be used to visually translate a range of emotions." I want one too but all his art is expensive. This one is for charity so it's even higher. Still, really like it.

Why in the world are people bashing a Louisiana artist who made world-wide popularity and designed an LSU piece for charity?

I don't understand you people.

My thoughts exactly.
Its not his fault for taking the money and its not as if he is printing those things out everyday and selling them for $500 a pop. It was a limited deal for charity for crying out loud.

And they mad because they can't afford one for themselves.

With framing that's not far off. The wif bought one for our anniversary from that arts fundraiser. I think the print was $575 and the framing was a bit over $200 so call it $800.

Sigh.

Whoever talking about people wasting there money on this guys stuff is way off. Its actually a great investment. This guy is huge all over the world. My aunt bought 2 original paintings from him about 12 years ago and they have almost doubled in value.
