What's up with the nega-tigers? We lost to a top 8 team FFS.

All credit to FSU, they seem to be a top 5 team, but it was much less of a blowout than the final score showed. We manhandled them between the 20s in the first half, and were leading at halftime. It was a 1 score game heading into the fourth and multiple critical drops killed our drives. Two drops in particular, a Lacy slant that if caught wouldve likely been a footrace touchdown and a Thomas vertical bomb that would've put us within the 15yd line, kept 10-14 points off the board in the second half. Our defense got gassed due to our poor offensive execution in the third. Not to mention Perkins was being played out of position and Smith was unavailable.

Against Grambling our guys they looked disinterested against an insanely inferior opponent. Grambling made 3 good drives back to back before LSU decided to play football and completely shut then down. Grambling only gained like 60 yards in the second half and about 100yds total after the first quarter.

Our run defense was really good until the 4th quarter against FSU who has maybe the best RB in the country this year.

Until this team shows us otherwise, we have no reason to doubt our ability to contend for a playoff birth this year.

We barely lost to a top 3 team and should run the table the rest of the way

The west is down and we shouldn’t have any issues

Very good chance we go 11-1. We are fine

Kelly made it sound like this team turned a major corner this offseason and fans bought into the hype from him and the media, so the negativity is pure frustration from the realization the team might have actually regressed. They'll be competitive in a down SEC that seems to be mostly fighting for second place to Georgia, but LSU isn't going to be a Top 4 team unless some wholesale changes start happening.

Top 8?

Top 5?

Top 3?

Just say they’re the best team in the country already. Clearly it was a fluke that LSU lost to FSU and we’ll get our revenge in the playoffs after JD wins his heisman!

Yep. It’s everyone else’s fault but the guy who touches the ball every snap. 1 td down 30 with 3 mins to go ain’t going to cut it.

Losing to a top 3 team in the first game doesn’t mean this isn’t true.

FSU may very well be the best team we play all year and should be a playoff team.

It’s not that we lost. It’s the manner in which we lost.

And the fact that the coach was so clueless on the actual status of this team and what they did during the offseason and camp.

He threw 3 other passes that, had the reciever done their job, could've resulted in touchdowns.

1) First drive of the game, back of the endzone pass the Nabors. Nabors caught the ball but lost the edge of the endzone on his route and was out of bounds. -7pts

2) Perfectly thrown in stride slant to Lacy with multiple steps on the cornerback and no overtop help, Lacy drops it. Had he caught it all he had to do was outrun the corner that was already beat. -7

3) Very slightly underthrown ball to Thomas, ball went straight through his hands. If he catches that ball he either gets tackled at the 5-10 yard line or scores a touchdown. -3 or -7

-Starting QB still won't throw downfield and makes a lot of stupid decisions(running into sacks, holding the ball entirely too long, throwing balls right at defenders, underthrowing balls...).

-Receivers dropping catchable balls, a lot of times for walk-in TD's.

-O-line issues in the run game. Pass protection is somewhat forgivable because blocking for 4-5 seconds is hard regardless of the defensive talent. QB should have the ball out in 3 seconds or less.

-Play-calling issues.

-The defense. Everything about the defense.

Like I said: wholesale changes.

The pass to Nabors was a bad throw. You’re reaching trying to blame him for that.

They outscored us 31-7 in the second half

There was never a point in the second half it felt we had a prayer at winning the game, imo.

Total momentum shift after the half

Yeah LSU will easily win the National Championship. Just like they were definitely going to beat Tennessee and Texas A&M last season. I mean A&M had a losing record, so they couldn't compete. Daniels has already locked up the Heisman and first pick in next year's draft. No doubt that Lacy will win the biletnikoff award. I'm sure that one of our backs emerge as the Doak Walker winner, as well. LSU is also DBU, so no one will be able to throw against that defense. Spot on assessment.

Oh lawd, knives are out. Lost one game? Reset the program.
Makes sense.

But my expectations!

Which is a dumb opinion bc this is the reigning champ of the SEC West with more experience going into this season.

We might’ve regressed is one area & that’s at DB, but that’s just how it is with the portal & the roster that BK inherited.

Like OP said, we lost to a really good team & the weakness of our team got exposed in that game.

We all saw the turnaround this team made last year after getting beat down at home by Tennessee. No reason to believe they can’t do the same this year.
