He's done a good job rebuilding the Tennessee program. But I think LSU is a job where they can get ESTABLISHED and more proven HCs to lead the program. Could Vitello be the greatest HC in the history of baseball? Maybe. But I don't think LSU is in a spot where their only options are an "up and comer." Basketball, yes. Baseball, no. There are not many schools in the country willing to spend a ton on baseball. LSU is one of the few that will and that opens the door to a LOT of potential coaches.
If he is the guy I will, of course, support him. But I think there are others you have to make turn you down before you go that route.

There are a lot of years between 4 and 20.
I get that we live in a knee jerk world now but how we are now defining “proven he can win” is pretty weak.

LSUs two best coaches ever were “up and comers”

He has as many trips to the CWS as PM did when we hired him.

people who support the Bianco hire are part of the complacency problem.

What's my thoughts? He wins games. Clearly recruits and develops talent, AND he doesn't have baggage. Plus he's not reluctant to approach an ump if he feels a call didn't go in his teams favor. I like that. In other words, he fights for his team. No shrinking thorn bush there.

So what are Vitello's strengths that make him a more attractive candidate than McDonnell, Godwin, Bianco, et al?

Tbob and hester just threw their support to bianco, hopefully that isnt lsu admins leaking stuff for them to put out there
I was going to post this. With their connections to the AD, almost seems like they’re trying to soften the blow.

I’m old enough to remember when Urban Meyer retired from a premier coaching spot.
Then got back in the game and did an incredible job.

Urban Meyer has retired like 3x's or so and he is still only 56 years old right now.
So he retired those first couple of times at what ages?
I know baseball legends can coach a long time, but how often does a guy get back into coaching at an entirely new baseball program and have success at that age? It seems a little risky, but maybe not? I just wonder how well he would recruit compared to a different type of hire. I understand programs can sell themselves, but I still want an elite recruiter on top of coach.
I am not exactly anti-Casey.

Yep, he's the last thing LSU needs.
A fiery coach who vehemently defends his team, tries to keep umps honest, and his team plays with extreme swagger.
We don't need that at all.

McDonnell is an equally good recruiter and developer. Has proven himself as an in game coach. Godwin gets a ton our of players talent. I think Vitello is a better in game coach though. I’m not going to entertain Bianco. He’s the mike Martin of Supers and Regionals.

There is no doubt about his ability to coach but I get a vibe from what I’ve seen on TV that he is a bit of a thug and that filters down to the team. IMO it’s not a good look to whine and complain about every call on the field. He wouldn’t be my choice.

Yea winning sucks and is never fun
Most of you are fricking old arse construction workers who suddenly want to get uppity when it comes to lsu baseball. Was skip a whiny asshat or immature because most of the actions I see look just like skips antics from the 90s. Winning like it too.
Glad yall aren't making the decision.

He’s a great coach. But it ain’t happenin

I have No idea what fans want
After years of bitching nonstop about Paul sitting emotionlessly in the dugout, we are gonna clutch our pearls because we got our asses kicked by a team and coach who wanted it way more.
