What's the acceptable expectation for Kelly moving forward?

He will be entering year 3 and there will be a 12 team playoff now. He has 8 years left and making close to 10mil per year. So with that type of contract what is the expectation for those 8 years?

If there was a 12 team playoff this year there would be 4 SEC teams in the playoff and LSU would not be one of them.

So if that holds true I think it is a reasonable expectation that LSU is in the playoff at least every other year

Kelly is being paid like a national championship coach. I think it's fair that he should be in the race in year 3

By 2025, we should be in that top 1-7 group every thanksgiving. One of the teams that have a legitimate shot and are talked about as having the potential to win a championship.

That's what people think when talking about being an elite program. Every year you look up and you are one of the handful of teams in the mix. No off years from that conversation.

If he were paid less, would you accept less?

Every other year playoff is the absolute floor expectation with it expanding to 12.

It appears 9-3 is his ceiling, until he fires House. That is only if he can keep a QB equal to the play of Daniels.

Depends how much are we talking?

If it's 3.5 million like at Notre Dame then I would be fine with bottom half of the SEC because that's what his contract would read as

Keep having a productive offense. It won't be this good every year, but an offense good enough to win you games.

And then drastically improving the defense. This season was unacceptable, and steps need to be made to fix it. If the defense isn't in the top half of the SEC next season then there is big problems.

Do these two things and everything else will take care of itself.

Averaging 10 wins a season and going to the SEC Championship every few years would be a reasonable expectation and a great accomplishment, which means some 11-1 and maybe 12-0 years mixed in with some 9-3 years.

It's undeniable that SEC is only getting tougher with Oklahoma and Texas joining, Ole Miss being a more difficult out than usual with Lane at the helm, and a Jimbo-less A&M who is spending more $$$ than ever in the age of NIL.

Good lord. Acceptable expectation? To whom? When is his personal interview with you? Woodward is who he answers to. With the rant it might be easier to list the unacceptable expectations. Unfortunately we all know what those are.

BS … no one here would ever accept being bottom half of the SEC (and shouldn’t) regardless of the coach’s salary.

If you insist on boxing him in with the “should compete in year ____” then Kelly is a year 4 guy due to the timing of his hiring and basically inheriting his 1st recruiting class, on top of a depleted roster.

He had the QB but lacked numbers & talent elsewhere. Going forward he has to starry to sync both. I like the direction & the momentum should start to manifest with the 25’ class

That’s way too reasonable. I agree with the other unreasonable and overreacting keyboard cowboys, playoffs are not enough. He shouldn’t lose a game and win the national championship every year

Out of 8 years remaining, and given the fact that there will be a 12 team playoff, I think a reasonable expectation has LSU in the playoff 6 of 8 years.
