The LSU softball team announced plans for a new indoor facility at Tiger Park on Thursday.
The LSU Softball Performance Center will be the largest indoor facility in the Southeastern Conference.
The 14,500 square foot indoor practice facility will dedicate 1,279 of its square feet for a weight room and 770 square feet for cardio equipment.
The performance center includes a full sized custom and motorized netting that covers the whole surface. No matter what the weather condition is, the softball team can still fully participate in infield, hitting and slapping drills.
All of the hitting lanes will include wired electricity for the staff and the players to have multiple batting practices at one time, as well as a custom multi-camera system for the staff and the players to review film post practice.
Custom turf will resemble the real grass at Tiger Park in terms of performance, and all of the lighting in the facility will be energy efficient with impact-resistant LED fixtures.
It also includes 517 square feet of storage space and a 240 square foot locker room area. Graphics will be displayed all inside the facility to honor the team’s history.

Gated gameday restrooms with an outside entrance for fans will be connected to the facility on the opposite side of the weight room.
Also included in the project are an additional 500 bleacher seats that will be placed in right center field and a parking lot for SEC Network trucks for both softball and soccer fields.
The building will be located behind the existing scoreboard, and the road circling Tiger Park will be realigned to accommodate the new facility.

Mentioning Beach Volleyball without pics is disappointing.

I just looked it up it's going on nicholson where nicholson estates used to be. They tore all those houses down years ago and hadnt done anything with it yet.
Its going to be more section 8 between campus and downtown.

LSU Softball has a ridiculous indoor facility about to be built but don't know the timeline on it, LSU has had the money for a while now...

I don’t think that Nicholson Gatewway includes Section 8 housing, but per usual, BR’s finest mind, aka Chauna Banks, has gone on record as saying that gentrification of the ghetto areas between LSU and downtown is tantamount to racism. Mayor Broome recently green lighted a direct CATS route from NBR to LSU, which will only serve to bring more of the criminal element right to the university’s door step.

I wonder what new on the academic side is in the works. I know the masterplan is promising but haven’t heard of anything new other than dorms.

Nothing. Have you not heard? LSU is completely and utterly broke and on the verge of shutting its doors for good

Is there a specific dorm set aside for athletes?
You'd think that as much money as LSU brings in for sports that our athletes would have the best dorm on campus.

Officially no. I beleive the SEC has a rule against athletic dorms because obviously they would be ridiculous. Each housing community has to be >51% non athletes. At LSU they put all of the athletes in WCA but built it large enough that it'd still be a majority non athlete students. I would imagine now they'll move them to Nicholson Gateway because those are much nicer apartments. Now I'm getting nostalgic about my one year at WCA. Good times

What's holding it back is their using the same architects/contractors for all these projects. as soon as the current projects are done, they'll move onto the next slate.
The softball facility is next in line.
