He’s the best QB in the nation right now and playing much better than the supposed #1 overall draft pick Caleb yet he’s still not getting the national respect he’s earned.

Yes, it’s prove it in Tuscaloosa and then this topic is over.

It will be interesting to see how Vegas moves the heisman odds after Penix’s poor performance. Penix was a heavy fav at -130 prior to this weekend. That will change drastically

Bama...national TV...create/hope for more than 1 "Heisman moment" in the game. One of those plays that when it happens, you know exactly what happened.

I expect this to be an unpopular take, but it is what it is. Preseason, he was all everyone could talk about. He had the nations attention. He then came out and shite the bed against FSU and embarrassed a lot of talking heads.

He lights it up against Bama, and I think you see him start getting that recognition back.

This.

LSU laid an egg with everyone watching and it left an impression. The nation doesn’t watch all of our other games. They’ll all watch the Bama game. He can win it there.

With 2 losses Heisman is doubtful. The respect will come when he's drafted top 10.

Every single time his name is brought up, the talking heads fall over each other trying to be the first to bring up LSU's defense. Caleb Williams won it with 3 losses a few years ago. But apparently JD5, despite going to have even better numbers, will not get that same recognition. He's gonna end up with somewhere around 4,500 yards passing with 35 TDs, AND 1,000 yards rushing with 8 TDs. In the SEC West. If Daniels was playing for a Big 10 or Pac 12 blue blood, he'd be the frontrunner right now.

Beat Bama. Looking terrible (along with the rest of the team) in the second half against FSU really hurt.

The Heisman winner is already determined. He can put up all sorts of numbers, but he won’t win. The voters have made up their minds and will not pay attention to any player.

You and I have vastly different definitions of "shitting the bed." He still accounted for 411 yards and a TD (and was LSU's leading rusher). LSU had the lead at half, but LSU's whole team looked like shite in the 2nd half. LSU had big coaching blunders and JD just looked how he looked at times last year with not being able to connect on long balls, etc., despite bringing a lot to LSU's offense. It wasn't a terrible performance, but it wasn't enough to beat a team like FSU with LSU's issues on D.

As for the OP's question, I think he is getting the respect he deserves. The AP named him their "Halfway Heisman" midway through the season, he was named to the mid-season AP All-American team, and he is in just about everyone's top 3-4 Heisman picks at this point (not to mention the multiple SEC Offensive Player of the Week Awards he has won).

I don't know where you've been, but he's getting tons of national respect. He's in third for the Heisman race according to the latest odds that I saw.

The problem with this theory is, no one with a functioning brain thinks that he played a bad game against FSU. Why would talking heads be embarrassed? JD has an above average game.

We moved the ball at will in the first half. Had a few drives stall in the second half, a fumble( not JD), and the defense played like crap.

Wasn't it a one possession game in mid 3rd quarter?

oh stop it. Go back and re-watch any season, the Heisman FrontRunner changes 10 times from the first game to the last game

USC Trojans now have 2 losses—Caleb Williams was bad in one and average in the second. As one commentator said, you can take say that Williams was the reason USC lost a game but you’ll never say that about Daniels.
