If Les wants to compromise and go with the spread... He can always go pistol and bunched Wr. That kinda looks like an I right?
we ran the pistol under crowton. it was effective with a sr qb, not when he played qb carousell with crazy sub packages.

TAMU threw it 62 times and lost by 17. yeah that shite really works.
the same people who love to bring up Miles SEC record for the last 2 years are the same ones in love with TAM and Sumlin, who is 6-5 in that span, and plays Ole Miss this weekend.

"Three things happen when you pass the ball and two of them are bad..." I'm not sure if this was Moses or Darrell Royal that said this...

What an asinine statement. Of course the offense works. Combine it with a traditionally strong LSU defense and we are competing for a spot in the playoff every year. Offense doesn't work? At least they were competitive in their last minute loss.

we run a prostyle and have the most wins out of any bcs school in his tenure. Why would you want to run the spread when your qb goes 3/14? that is just retarded
After calming down somewhat I realize this is the truth. This will be a painful year but next year these guys will come out swinging and probably run the table

Don't be a jackass. Of course we would incorporate the run. Like Auburn does. Or Miss St. The status quo has been shite for six freaking years.

One would think that the spread is the way that the offense is moving with the type of players being recruited and the zone blocking scheme that our O-line coach is installing, but what the hell do I know..

Ole Miss does quite well with it with a qb not as mobile as the two we have. We run a geriatric 1970s Big Ten offense that will not work in the Sec anymore. This vanilla crap has caught up with us.

It’s fairly obvious, Miles and co. just don’t know how to do it effectively. Maybe they can ask Malzan and Freise for notes?

Well that dint cross my mind until now. Valid point.

I think just running more 3 WR sets will help! Yes, a few 4 WR sets too, as you still have the RB to run the ball. I am not sure we have ever gone 5 wide in Coach Miles tenure.

That offenze does work. It's just he completely neglects his defense. They average over 60 passes a game, so it's not like it's some quick strike offense. They run about 80 plays a game.
Take for instance the Utah game. They ran 86 plays (61 pass 25 run). There is no wide gap in numbers for the receivers. There are 7 pass catchers with at least 150 receiving yards, and 6 with at least 225. Four have at least 495 yards, and 3 have at least 570 yards. Eight have at least twelve receptions, 6 have at least 20, and 3 have at least 43. It is a very diverse passing game. They are 25th in 3rd down conversion %, and 22nd in attempts meaning that they stay on the field a lot and convert at a pretty high percentile.
They don't tire out their defense by being a quick strike offense. They are a more methodical offense.
Take LSU for example last year. They actually put more pressure on their defense by being a more quick strike offense. We were 113th in the country last year in attempted 3rd downs. We were 70 attempts fewer than the top spot, and 39 fewer than Washington State, even though they played one less game.
In conclusion, last year our offense actually put waaay more pressure on our defense, than Leach's air raid does on his. He just actually has a crappy defense. If he would be a coordinator under a defensive minded coach, a team like that, would be ridiculous!

Many a dropped pass (I think the final count was 10 or 12), and 2 tipped ints. Did you watch that game????
I'm not saying it's what we need to go to (I REALLY don't want us to go that route), but it's not the reason for bad defense. People need to realize that these pass happy head coaches usually don't give a damn about defense. With the same QB who was pretty much a WR under center last year, check out what Patterson has done with TCU this year in getting that spread OC from Houston.
12th in scoring offense
7th in scoring defense
19th in pass offense
12th in pass defense
41st in run offense
18th in run defense
16th in total offense
7th in total defense
THAT IS THE shite I WANT!

theres no combining that with an LSU defense. I assure you, Leach has thought of that. it has occurred to him that holding the other team to 50 points or less would be beneficial. thats not the problem. the problem is his defense has no one to practice against. they dont face a good running back, or strong o line, or big strong receivers, all they see every day is air raid.
why do you think the defense on these teams ALWAYS suck, EVERY SINGLE TIME. its not coincidence. thier practice is all conceptual. you see how well that works.
they also cant run the ball. i know Sumlin says he can, but then they get to the 1 and he brings out the Rhino formation, and against Arkansas he even threw out of that (unsuccessfully, i might add).
West Virginia threw for over 500 on LSU but only scored 21, because once they were inside the 20 they were dead. when you have 5 receivers on a field that small, Peterson could cover all 5 by himself.

I do not think it does any good to discuss the results of games that happened before this year and the advanced implementation of spread read option offenses in the top 5 teams in the SEC WEST. It is an offensive race. The defense for State and AUB was strong because we were so predictable on offense, never spreading things out or giving them anything more to prepare for than an either or run or pass. Last year we caught Auburn in the rain with an early fumble and a 21-0 halftime lead, otherwise they would have won. The SEC championship game was Mizz and AUB piling up 1250 yds of offense with AUB putting up 500 yds rushing between tackles and at the perimeter from the spread triple read option. Tell me AUB and MSST defense did not crush us because we have a predictable offense. If you judge anyone's D from last year you need to realize that LSU was not nearly as good as ALA against the spread option of A&M. Just look up the "Myth of LSU against the spread" on 247. I do not see your argument holding up for WVU this year or for any other team. Those receivers have man coverage and it is on the QB if he cannot hit them. Or would you rather see us run four more times against State from the 1 and end up on the 4.

We ran 5 wide with JJ plenty of times in 09 and 10. They often ran QB draws with it, but they did use it.

I'd give another $1400 for season tickets.
