What would you do if you're the one making a decision regarding the JD situation?

Would you do nothing, make statement, etc.?

Whatever the outcome, I don't think LSU let's themselves get into a situation like this again, by outlining a clear policy on jersey numbers worn by Heisman winners.

You do nothing and say nothing. And you never promise another player a number ever again.

Policy probably should have already been implemented so that’d be the answer. But as far as statement the best thing LSU should do is stay silent. The public has already taken their side on the matter it seems so a statement would only hurt. Just stay silent and move along.

Public opinion and the media.
Looks like vast majority think Daniels is a wrong POS.

Make a statue of Joe Burrow.

Have the ceremonial unveiling on 5/5 of next year at 5:55pm.

This is a really good example of why numbers should not be retired. Display the jersey in the stadium or something. Build a statue. But leave the numbers available for other kids.

I wouldn't say anything.

I would also hand out the #5 as often as a Mexican child handing out Chiclets in Tijuana.

Well we have a very clear policy on what it takes to have a jersey retired. In today’s wild this shouldn’t be that hard to look up that we have a clear policy.

Oh kinda like we do already. We don’t retire numbers.

Hold strong, ask for an informal meeting to try to mend back the relationship without changing our position.

If it doesn't work, then per his retaliatory demand, he'll be erased from LSU... but #5 won't be.

They don’t need to do anything. JD does not have a leg to stand on. There simply is no situation.

LSU shouldn't do or say anything regarding this situation, which is exactly what Daniels should've done as well.

Making the decision about what? As JD, I never would have made the grievance.

As the LSU rep?
Absolutely nothing.

I can't believe how stoopid he is & his group is. Pick up the freaking phone & call Verge w/ your issue. Don't do a cease & desist & go to ESPN.

A well defined policy is already in place. All you had to do was google.

quote:

LSU distinguishes between retiring a player's jersey and permanently retiring a numerical digit. Under policy changes enacted on January 1, 2007, retiring a jersey honors the individual's legacy, but the actual number remains active in the rotation and can be worn by future student-athletes with the head coach's approval

There doesn't need to be a rule for everything. It should be subjective

Say and do nothing. Lane briefly discussed it and so did DJ. Nothing further needed.
