LSU could never afford it now.

A mid tier transfer quarterback with no prior starting experience? Cheap
A 3 star RB from catholic high? Cheap
a 3 star transfer TE with no prior experience? Cheap
a 2 star WR who didn't qualify until August? Cheap
a 5 star WR from New Orleans? Expensive, but probably get a hometown discount
a 5 star WR from North LA? Expensive, but probably get a hometown discount

A 3 star LT out of MS? Cheap
A 4 star LG out of TX? Meh, not too expensive
A 3 star C out of LA who was offered on signing day? Cheap
A JUCO LG? Cheap
A 4 star RT out of TX? Same as Ingram. Not too pricey

Very affordable team. You don't know ball.

Jefferson would have been the one to pay. The rest weren’t so hot in 2018 yo demand too much. Revisionist would think they started where they finished
Marshall and Chase would have cost

He would have been the cheapest player outside of Cush and maybe Moss. If we're talking now then yeah, but as a recruit he would've cost close to zero.

He would but be a recruit by 2019 he would be a sophomore coming off a 875yard year and looking at a shot to be wr1

Are we acting like we're picking every one of these guys up in the spring of '19? Or just their costs as recruits? Would be a pretty dumb exercise to replace an entire team in one off season.

Jefferson had a VERY good 18 being Burrow’s favorite target and they knew what they had especially Joe Brady.

I mean that’s what’s happening if your watching, we have to re recruit every single year and the bargain freshman that balled out is now getting the sec starter money or will go to a team that pays.

We're talking what it would take to keep him from bailing in the portal. Going into '19, he would have cost at least as much as whatever Chase would have agreed to out of HS, probably more.

Burrow still would have been a huge bargain in '19, like having a top NFL QB on a rookie contract.

He was a 3-star player on 24/7.

Exactly. That’s why some in the media picked them to go 7-5. Not many saw the hidden value.

Not as much as you think if you look at 2018.

Burrow wouldn’t have cost much too come back, JJ and Chase hadn’t broke out yet and CEH hadn’t either.

JJ did have a good 18 so he probably demands some to return.

Chase and Marshal would cost a bit to get to campus.

Still it’s not as much considering they all really broke out in 19

...under the right system. LSU overhauled its offense in 2019. Amazing what actual utilization of talent can do

Once they blew up most headed to NFL after that year
Chase would have demanded a nice increase to stay at LSU but then COVID hit

If they were coming back to college in 2020, it would have been a huge cost.
Going in to 2019, they would have had moderate value, all being better than avereage players, but none would have been considered to have the potential anywhere close to the level they achieved in 2019
