A great coach puts his players in a position to succeed, whether it be through schemes, game planning, making in game adjustments, etc. Whether they succeed or not is up to the player but a great coach gives him everything he needs. Since the championship game against Bama the LSU coaching staff has not done that on offense

We won 6 conference games last year, we won 5 this year, so no, WE haven't.

Hiring an offensive coordinator that can put together a game plan that scores more than zero points twice in two games against Alabama.

Just enjoy the wins and squat as you'll watch Orgeron eventually get exposed.

I wish otherwise, but I do not believe he is competent to lead this great LSU FB Program. I just do not.

So losing to Troy is better than losing to an SEC opponent? We are better, better QB, better Kicker, and when healthy, better lines.

In a coach's 2nd year? A program that's on the rise, not stagnant. 7 wins is O's ceiling.

If our team executed near 100%, were almost never out of position and capitalized on every down. By Squeezing everything out of the talent we have and have better talent replacing them. By creating a culture that is never out of any game because we can score at any moment and a killer instinct that will put away a team that has been beat.

Fake punt on 4th and 11 from midfield in a tie ballgame midway through the fourth.

Our coach hasn't had the balls to do something like that in 11 years, but that was the egg, so the stakes were much higher than last night.

Are people on the rant actually defending this dumass coaching decision?! Wow this board has truly lost it

No coach, not even the best of all time, do this.

You're right about us going to a better bowl game this year than last year, but when a 9-3 team that finished third in their division, goes to a NY6 bowl game, that just shows how watered down college football has become.

so, yes, WE have

2017 conference record: 6-2
2018 conference record: 5-3

No WE haven't.

For me, there are two pillars of good coaching:

1. Good fundamental football.
2. Players don't beat themselves.

What I mean by good fundamental football is probably obvious: tackling form, blocking form, good conditioning, intensity and enthusiasm, mental toughness. Basically most things you can control on the football field that don't have to do with base athleticism and the scheme.

So essentially, regardless of how well you recruited, and whether you just surprised the crap out of the other coach and team with your playcalling, you play football well.

What I mean by players not beating themselves is also pretty obvious. Players have learned what to do, how to do it and when. As a result, when bad things happen in the game, it does not snowball, and when good things happen, they keep happening and opportunities are not squandered.

I left out recruiting, but everyone knows that recruiting is super important in college football, but it isn't football coaching.

But if you have both of these qualities in your team, then you win games you aren't supposed to.

In the first half of the season we looked like a team that had these two things. In the second half, not as much.

So I would say I can't really say for sure yet.

No coach in history has done this. Not a single one.

Other than winning every game, I believe a good coach wins 100% of the games he should win and occasionally wins some games he is not suppose to win. I hate losing games where we out play our opponent but lose

1- Not losing to Troy.
2- Not losing to Miss St by 30
3- Going for it on the 1 yard line with 2 mins left in the bowl game against ND
4- Scoring a point when playing Bama

bad metric.

If you coach a bad team, that might only be 2 or 3 games per year.

You dumb, baw. I was joking. Kirby's fake punt was maybe the worst decision in conference history.

So, in 2017 we lost to Troy and 2 SEC teams.
in 2018, we lost to 3 SEC teams, and you don't think 2018 is better? We were ranked 18 in the CFP this time last year, we are ranked 11 this year? Still don't think we are better? Doesn't mater, the rest of America does think we are better and put us in a better bowl for it.
