He is cajun, so he automatically is qualified to be the head coach of LSU!

Not sure - 6-1, including victory over Bama?

LSU is going to recruit great while established regardless

I just prefer and x and o's elite guy

It just depends who LSU can get

This LSU team is so stacked they should run the table with any coach willing to open it up

I think administration absolutely wants this to happen. CEO would be much cheaper than one of the big names. I also think this was a driving factor (not the only one) behind forcing UF to play in baton rouge

I think the people saying "never" are being as short sighted as the people who want to hire him right now.

Right now I would rather tom Herman. Fisher would also do a good job. Not enamored with PJ Fleck at all.

That said I think O has the chance to prove he is the man over the rest of the year. So far he has done a really good job.

Put me in the "win out and he gets a serious look" camp.

some people he would never win over, some people are against Fisher, a few people aren't even sold on Herman. hell even more said Les Miles was the next iteration of Larry Coker and look how idiotic that position seems even after Miles was fired.

He needs to win, he needs to beat Bama.

the people saying "never" are simply deluding themselves. In the unlikely event he wins out, wins the SEC, gets in the playoffs and wins a national championship would any reasonable person say hell no because we aren't convinced he can run spring practice?

Would a reasonable person suggest the point those of us are making is that the concern is that he can't run a Spring practice? I mean...if we're not going to honestly discuss the issue, what's the point?

Again. I don't dislike Orgeron at all. I happen to have a differing opinion, which is that running an entire program year round is a different job than stepping in to someone else's program and taking over is what amounts to a desperate time as interim. I think that difference happens to be slightly more important than not running a spring practice competently.

And because of that, I'd PREFER that the coach LSU taps as Miles' replacement and the guy that ultimately has to go head to head with Saban (that is why Les was fired, right?) has been a successful head coach at his OWN PROGRAM somewhere first. Orgeron has yet to do that.

I mean...people bitched and called Miles out for winning with Saban's players for years...but we're ok in turning over the keys to a coach (any coach for that matter) who wins with Les' players on an interim basis?

If he goes 4-1 or better in the next five, I think it's inevitable.

I like Coach O, but I think LSU might have better options.

Your A list candidates would have to say no after you throw the kitchen sink at them. Then, if O wins out he would be at the top of the B lists.

You can't erase the 3 sec wins at Ole miss and think he's a great coach now because he said he's changed. He needs to prove his theories at a smaller school. LSU is not a training ground for failed head coaches.

you're wound a bit tight on this. I've already said if we can get Herman then that's my guy - if not and O does a phenomenal job this year then i'm not shutting the door on him.

if this were a 1 or 2 game sample i would agree it would be ridiculous to give him the job but an 8 game stretch (a TOUGH 8 game stretch) is about a good a job interview as i could hope for. There are no guarantees with any coach. Herman has only been a coach for year and half, Jimbo is turning in some subpar performances as of late and got destroyed at home vs Louisville, PJ Fleck has done well but are we convinced he can handle expectations at a school like LSU? History is littered with failures with similar backgrounds to all coaches under consideration.

Bama looks unstoppable this year. If you want a guy that can beat Saban head to head and O proves to you he can do it this year you'd still rather roll the dice on someone else in the hopes they maybe could to? I just think that's short sighted.

I don't think he's got to win out, it's more about style attitude and how the team progresses. Don't get me wrong I hope and want us to win out, but I don't think Les was going to win out nor would Herman if he was given this team mid-season.

That's a tough situation to put anyone into. Will the team perform better that Miles did last year. The answer is already yes IMHO! We'll see.

The only way CEO moves into Group A of coaching interviews is making the CFP AND Winning it.

Im totally loving me some Coach O currently, but its because he's one of us. We have to look past that and decide who do we want to be the face of the franchise for the next ten years.

Best thing posted here. This is why I'm not on the Ed O train, especially with 12 players moving on.

There is nothing he could do to convince me that he is the best man in the world for the job. Because he is not.
