Are you seriously comparing coach o and belichick? Wow...this is getting out of hand.

I never said O is as good as Chick. I'm just saying that more often than not, Fit matters for the job. Chick is not the only instance of this.

I think too many fans are looking at win/loss record, which is important but not the only thing that should be looked at. How does the team perform during the games and how he is correcting the issues that have plagued us in the past. If he goes 2-3 in the next 5 games I don't think he has a chance "obviously." But 3-2 depending on how the team plays and performs because this is "I would think" the toughest stretch of 5 games "4 within 20days" that LSU has faced since I can remember. So to throw his name out just because he goes 3-2 to me just shouldn't be done if the team has played well just came up short in a couple games. Now if those games were blowout losses then again I don't think he gets the job. But let's say we lose at home to Bama in a close game and maybe Arky or Tamu in a close game then I don't think his name should be just thrown out.

Literally undefeated to finish the season.

I can't fathom firing a NC coach to promote our DL coach who failed at his only HC opportunity.

This. Plus our top targets (Herman, Jimbo) would have to turn us down.

I love O, but as a d-line coach and recruiting guru.

I'm not exactly sure at this point. However, I do find the people who want to keep Orgeron as long as we hire a top OC to be comical. If he gets enough out of this team to keep the job, then Ensminger will have done enough to stay as the OC. You can't really separate the two IMO.

I'd be down if we won out. All he really has to do is make a grand slam hire at OC and keep Aranda. He has the HC experience and his last interim stint at USC made him better at micromanaging.

Win the next 2 games, and then win at least 2 of the last 3.

I think winning out (total hypothetical but since you're in the never O camp let's just go with it) he will have shown me a lot, not a little. You seem to be of the opinion he will have only shown you a little, not a lot.

He'd be showing me a lot...it's just that what he's showing me isn't as meaningful long term to me as it is to you, I think. I agree that he's behaving as if it's his job solely, and as a Tiger Fan I appreciate that, because I think we're getting his best effort. At the end of the day though, I still think it'll be a good indication of how he performs as a step-in interim coach and not necessarily what he would do as the long term solution as head ball coach.

Again - if i had to hire someone today it would not be O. It would be Herman (and who knows what other candidates will show up) but I am not shutting the door on O. Let's see what he does first before writing him off is all i'm saying.

I'm a fan, and like I stated in my first response in this thread I'll fully support any coach LSU hires. In fact, I'm quite sure I'll support them and if/when they begin to falter I'll be told that I'm a bigger fan of (insert name here) than I am of LSU, or some similar horseshite. I'm just saying if I were the AD (I'm not) that Orgeron would only be under consideration if all the top names on my list were washouts. This is solely because part of the criteria I'd be using this time around when hiring at LSU would be a successful run as the head coach of your own program. No position coaches, no coordinators, no interims.

So we fire Miles and pay his $10 million buyout for starting this season 2-2 with an ultra talented team,

les miles team constantly underperform and his offense is ancient. He won on talent alone. Nothing else.

What is the risk?

If he's given a 4-5 year contract for modest $$ and is unsuccessful after 2 years.............move on.

what you've described is a big risk.

Firstly, no way we'd fire O after only 2 years, unless he had a miserable record. The screams would be deafening that he hasn't had enough time.

Secondly, those 2, 3, or 4 years of O (if they were crappy) would leave quite a hole to dig out of. You can't allow a program to decline for 3 or 4 years (on top of Les' decline the last 3+ years). That's what can kill a program.

We need to right this ship immediately. No room for a 2-4 year test for Coach O.

Get to the Playoff. Otherwise, get someone with HC experience.

If we can't get Herman or Fisher, I don't have confidence that the admin's hire would be better than CEO.
