The other thing is we aren't the program that everybody is dying to come to. Believe what you want but that is just the simple truth of it. Failing to get Herman and Jimbo are examples of that. Sure, some of it is on JA. But not ALL of it. You can blame anybody you want, but the truth of the matter is LSU isn't the destination job that some of our fans believe it to be.
Perhaps the point of contenion between Alleva and both coaches and their agents wasn't so much with salary as it was guaranteed money / buyouts.
Maybe Joe didn't want to give them a massive buyout so as to not eliminate the possibility of Dave Aranda being the next head football coach at LSU.
Personally, I think obviously O gets an audition. If somehow he can surpass 8-9 wins, maybe he earns an extension.
However if he performs at about the level the program has been stuck at the last few years (8-9 wins, 4-4 or 5-3 in conference), I fully expect Aranda to be promoted to head coach once O's contract expires.
Of course, I hope LSU wins big now and Orgeron makes himself irreplaceable. However if he does not, I have a gut feeling Aranda and Alleva have some sort of handshake agreement as a HCIW, like an unofficial, unspoken kind of arrangement Jimbo had as OC at FSU.
I get that many on here think LSU is duty-bound to hire someone with head coaching experience and success. The counter-argument is that Florida State has won the NC more recently than we have, and DA and JF had/have similar resumes relative to this point in each's repective career (this point being the point at which Aranda is at now).
I would be fully behind taking a chance on Aranda in hopes he develops into an elite head coach that we'd be able to retain if successful.
EDIT: Not saying I believe this to be the case. Just playing devil's advocate and presenting a scenario Alleva isn't necessarily the pariah he's made out to be.

Reveal that you’re a huge fricking dbag? You do that to yourself everyday on this board.
That's about all these immature and simple minded cheerleaders can do.
They can't do much else to promote and defend their love of "The Meds" so they'll just call anybody that expresses an opinion that's different than theirs, a bad little name.
That's what they do. That's all that they do.
They all need girlfriend's in the worst way.

Maybe the worst analogy ever??

Orgeron should have never been hired as HC. Ensminger should have never been hired as OC. This whole thing is a mess. Nothing will change until Alleva goes.
How many hundreds of times have you said this in one form or another in the past 2+ years.
I believe everyone has heard it enough, even if we agree.
Just let this season play out.

then what is the point of this place?
For every "I love LSU.... no wait, I hate the HC... wait, I won't then to suck so the HC is fired before mid season... no wait, what, we winning it all" and blah blah blah.
This place is for all those bitching and moaning about it ALL... and yet they can't and/or won't do a damn thing about it. You people will walk right pass Joe and Ed, then say nothing but "Geaux Tigers or what's up coach and so forth." Not one damn one you people got on the phone or your power packed keyboard or drove to main office... and told them to take your season tickets and stick 'em.

I am one of the so-called pumpers , and people like this fool must be a hoot to hang out with. One of those people who are pissed when they can't get their way , and once again prove the old adage "misery loves company".

When the defense of the pumpers is to let the season play out and a plethora of ad hominem attacks, all I can do is laugh
YOU DONT BELIEVE IN HIM EITHER!!!!
Pumpers are nothing but a long elephant walk of the blind leading the blind

Or it's just people who realize they can't really do anything and to make the best of it instead of bathing in misery every waking second.
Like I said in this thread already, I was LIVID when Orgeron was hired. What's the point of constantly typing that he shouldn't be the coach? We get it. Hoping LSU loses just isn't something I believe in at all.

It’s not the existence of a buyout
It’s the amount
It’s the amount

Pumpers are your buddy who is dating a total meh chick, but he keeps trying to convince you how awesome she is. Pretty much everyone from the outside sees that she is just ok and sort of nice, but she is definitely not the top tier IG model that your buddy tries to sell her as.
Maybe you should stop being so emotionally invested in who your buddy is dating?

Either you didn’t read the article I posted or you are blinded by your own stupidity. Let me try to explain this again. Compared to other coaches contracts at programs that are at the same level of LSU Ed Orgeron’s contract and buyout is relatively small and is on a sliding scale meaning the longer he remains HC the smaller his buyout gets. So IF he doesn’t workout we aren’t screwed by an exborant amount of money compared to IF we would’ve gotten Fisher and he didn’t workout we would be on the hook for a very large amount of money. I’m not trying to argue which coach is better. We are strictly talking buyouts and which would hurt LSU monetarily more considering both coaches don’t work out. Hopefully you understand this better now.

So what?
So thefrick what?
Who else wanted O?
Would he not have taken a co tract with a 3 million dollar buyout? Of course he would have taken it. He had no leverage.

Lol I can’t believe you actually believe that. Orgeron held all the power during his contract negotiation, and that is pretty clear. He was going to get the whole thing guaranteed no matter what. That’s just how contracts get played out these days. He told them I’ll take less if you give me the chance and they did. Either way it works out for LSU. He succeeds, great! We got him for cheap and he produced like he said he would. He fails, at least we aren’t in the hole trying to find money to pay him and another coach that we will likely overpay for anyway.

Be his wing man.
Make sure he has a Trojan in his pocket because we all know where that girl has been.
He'll come around, sooner than later you hope.
