What makes you say “no chance”? Not to say he’s likely, or even probable, but how do you know there’s no chance? Crews was a top 50 overall prospect in the entire draft and he made it. We land too 200 prospects literally every year. What about his current stock says no chance?

Dugas

Thompson

No need to be dramatic

None of them would have started in 2017. They are certainly be much better
than last year, but they lacked consistency like most of our players

I think the big picture is not giving up an out every 2-3 innings. If that’s the case just let him bunt

Freshman Kramer Robertson wouldn’t have started in 09 either.

Not really anything to do with his current stock. He isn't even our highest rated signee. He is high enough to get some decent money though. I just know someone who's nephew has played with him for several years and he said he's not likely the college type. Said he doesn't want to play school any longer than necessary. I could be wrong but I just see him signing a contract if he goes in the top 10 rounds. He's easily high enough to do that.

Slaughter & Jordan were in the lineup regularly. Sure they would have

You add Berry to the team and each of these are knocked down a notch in terms of importance.

Dugas-Dought as your 4th & 5th best hitters is a pretty strong start to a lineup. Especially if your top 3 are all Americans

Maybe the new NIL changes that

Possibly so. I could see it helping college baseball get and keep better players. LSU should be able to take advantage of it as much as anyone.

Some insider on a pay site mentioned they are working on getting Tyler McManus from Samford to come here.

From LA, went to Delgado. Hit .346 with 11 homers last season. May depend on how the high school catcher commits we have do in draft.

McManus isn't really a defensive catcher it seems whatsoever. 6 passed balls and only threw out 3 of 19 last year.

I'm no insider but I think it'll be hard to get him or Moller to LSU. Hopefully something with the NIL can intrigue one of them enough to come to come to college to improve their craft.

I don’t agree that catcher is the only hole in the line up. Milazzo just needs coaching up with his hitting.

We dont know what he is capable of offensively. He has never had a hitting coach with johnsons acumen

I’m not sure what some on this site think hitting coaches can do. They can do little tweaks here and there but come on.

Well… they can definitely give you a plan of. Attack so you don’t look completely hopeless and lost at the plate. You can really work the advance scouting. And you can focus on fundamental things like pitch recognition, and hitting the ball the other way.

If we can DH for him and teach the pitchers to instead we’d be alright. He’s too good behind the plate

Idk that any lineup can overcome some batting under .100

.155 is not under .100. Quit being an arse.

He’s proven it’s more than just tweaks.

quote:

Johnson tailored his coaching style to every player on the team, figuring out what the individual needed to succeed. When he joined San Diego’s staff, Logan Gelbrich was a sophomore catcher who earned a starting role because of his defense. Gelbrich’s bat wrapped around the outside of the baseball, causing him to roll over pitches. He swung at balls. Valenzuela said he “couldn’t hit a lick.” Johnson changed Gelbrich’s stance and approach.

In addition to typical drills, Johnson arranged an offset screen. It made pitches travel deeper into the strike zone, forcing Gelbrich to swing inside the ball, and Johnson instructed him to backspin balls off a tee to improve his trajectory. They also reconsidered Gelbrich’s mindset in the on-deck circle.

“It was probably the most comprehensive look at baseball from an offensive perspective that I've ever seen,” Gelbrich said, later adding: “It felt empowering to be a hitter in that program.”

Dugas would not have started in 2017? Didn’t he have 19 home runs? But you’d take Beau Jordan, hitting 20 points lower with 4 HRs, over him?

? At least Travinski can give you power off the bench.

Well since Travenski will miss half the season due to injury a lot will determine how much he can contribute.
