Last year, we knew we weren't good enough, but did not recruit well on defense, especially at DL and DB.
Very little portal help after Wingo on DL, either.
This year, after some spring success in recruiting, we hit a real dry spell, especially on defense. Lost our top recruits on DL and DB. Again. Both La. kids. Sometimes recruits serve as a canary in the coal mine.
We couldn't stop FSU on offense, but some of us wanted to believe it was an aberration.
Grambling's offense did well against us until they tired.
Arky gave our defense all we could handle.
Last nite was embarrassing.
We are poorly coached, under talented and have limited young talent.
Next year will be worse, if huge changes are not mad.e

What’s worse is this coaching staff knew they sucked but tried to imply that we were going to be better than last year. How they couldn’t see the weakness of this inept defense is down right a tragedy

When Florida State’s WR’s dominated us and there wasn’t anything we could do about it.

Matt House was bad last year too and got a lot of credit for things he didn’t do. He had a veteran group last year that could cover for his mess ups but his continued personnel blunders and bad calls aren’t being masked anymore.

Next year will be ugly without Daniel's at QB.

Defensive talent will be less and House at the helm. The offense will be less too which is only thing making us somewhat competitive in games

We all knew the secondary would be a problem.

I did not see the problems in the front 7 coming. Was supposed to be among the best in the SEC

Steeples should have been a warning sign.
The (inherited) turnstile at DL coach should have been another.
G. Lindsey as the most recent hire should have been a definite warning light.
Where would we be on defense if Mekhi Wingo had not taken a risk and come to LSU?

Playing Womack will help and Jefferson and Weeks and start benching some others...But having said that I feel LSU has played the two best QBs in SE to date and behind JD...They could run the Table to SEC Championship if Kelly get's his head out of his arse and makes some decisions on D...

The most obvious warning sign is that many of our defensive players that see the field were not recruited by LSU : Oghoufo, Wingo, Shand, Jefferson, Swinson, Alexander, Speights, Chesnut, Burns, and Sam are not even LSU recruits. The only SEC type of player in this group is Wingo. If guys like Womack,Wiggins, and Howard do not develop up front, we are going to have another poor defense next year. Savion Jones needs to get back to 260 and regain the speed that he had. Langston and Hill appear to be non-factors. The only person that I think will certainly be back in the interior, is Guillory. The fact is that our guys lack speed and toughness. We will have to outscore people again next year, but with Daniels, Neighbors, and possibly Thomas gone at year's end, I am not sure we will be able to do that either.

This is by far the sorriest defense we’ve had in years

I was at the game and had a chance to watch the bench interact with the game.
It did not inspire confidence.
The players looked confused on many plays, as TV probably showed, but coach interaction with players was likewise animated and suggested chaos. Substitutions were complete adventure and even when players got on the field in time, they didn't seem to know where to line up and were either hesitant or leisurely in preparing for the snap.
I watch a lot of college football and i have never seen this type of coaching/ player response with a top level staff.
House is the highest paid DC in the nation.

There is a constant from this coaching staff in that, they don't seem to be able to translate what they see in practice into what they should expect in the games.
