This is easy.

LSU vs. UF 2007

Long story short: My best friends Dad died 2 weeks prior. My Dad had almost died back in 2002 until a heart transplant saved his life. As a result of my friend losing his father I had been reflecting on how lucky I was to still have mine around. I was also living in FL that year and was sick and tired of Gator fans.

I flew into BR friday night before the game. Tailgating was awesome as usual...especially with this being my first game of the season. Then that epic game was everything I had hoped it would be.

That last drive of the game will forever be burned into my mind. As soon as the clock ran out my Dad and I just sat in Tiger Stadium and soaked it in.

LSU was #1, we just beat FL, and my Dad was there to share it all with me!

2004 Sugar Bowl. We flew in from Africa to go see the game in the Dome. Never thought I'd live to see us win a NC.

when the officials took the INT away from PP7.

I saw him swipe the grass with his toe in the replay.

Tough call on this one. I would have to divide into two categories: 1) at Tiger Stadium, and 2) at home or at a bar.

At Tiger Stadium, a few come to mind...

LSU-Florida 1997
LSU-Auburn 1997
LSU-Georgia 1998
LSU-Alabama 1998

And the winner goes to LSU-Florida 1997 because we won and because the emotions from that victory lasted all night. I woke up with a smile on my face the next day in my dorm room at West LaVille...can't remember doing that too many times in my life. Alabama 1998 was a close second and rivaled that Florida game the year before in emotion at the game. But we lost. So I gave the nod to LSU-Florida.

At home/bar...in chronological order...

LSU-Tennessee '00
LSU-Alabama '00
Ole Miss-Arkansas '01 (5000 overtime game that put LSU back in the hunt for the SECCG)
LSU-Auburn '01
LSU-Tennessee '01 SECCG
LSU-Florida '02
LSU-Kentucky '02 (Bluegrass Miracle...I still remember running out of Buffalo Wild Wings in Lawrence, KS and running up and down Mass St. yelling about my Tigers)
LSU-Georgia I '03
LSU-Georgia II '03
Alabama-Hawaii '03 (helped put us over the edge)
LSU-Oklahoma '04 (National Championship)
LSU-Arizona St. '05
LSU-Tennessee '05
LSU-Alabama '05
LSU-Auburn '06
LSU-Florida '07
LSU-Alabama '07
LSU-Tennessee '07 (SECCG)
West Virginia-Pitt '07
LSU-Alabama '08
LSU-Alabama '09

I've narrowed it down to 4 games:

LSU-Tennessee (SECCG) '01
LSU-Georgia I '03
LSU-Oklahoma (NCG) '04
LSU-Florida '07

And starngely, I'll have to give it to the 2001 SECCG. I think because it represented to me the breaking down of the Mediocrity Wall. We weren't just talented spoilers anymore. We were champions. Before that day, I had never felt like we were an elite team. Since that day, I've never felt like we didn't have a chance to compete for an SEC title. I think I woke up with a smile the day after that game, also. Complete euphoria. It was wonderful.

All due respect to all of the above games, and some I didn't mention, I was rabid for each and every one. Each of the four that made my top 4 all represented the breaking down of some pre-conceived barrier--LSU-Georgia '03 led me to believe that we were national contenders for the first time in my life, LSU-Oklahoma '04 proved tothe world that we were the best for the first time in my life, LSU-Florida '07 gave me hope that we could win the NC in 2007...but LSU-Tennessee edges 'em out, I think.

Great thread, by the way.

1. Ricky Blanton's go-ahead basket against UK in the 1986 Southeast Regional final. The reason it was so emotional was that we finally beat UK in a BIG game after losing to them 3 times that same season.

(For you non-basketball fans or younger fans, think of being 2 or 3 TD underdogs and beating #1 Bama on a last-second TD to keep our BCSNC game hopes alive).

2. The Earthquake Game - The reason is that it was like a 15 round heavyweight fight, and we finally landed the knockout punch with a few seconds left (the second-highest I ever jumped for an LSU sporting event - other than the WM HR of course). The Tiger Stadium intensity was similar to the 03 Georgia and 07 Florida games.

I was sitting in the student section in 2003 during the loudest game I had ever attended... LSU-UGA.

Georgia scored on a long screen pass to tie the game. The Georgia fans were going crazy... then, right as UGA lined up to kick the extra point, a spontaneous "LSU! LSU!" chant rang out from the student section. The entire stadium joined in. The chant lasted through the kick, through the commercial break, until the kickoff return team lined up.

I 'knew' at that point, there was something special going on. I 'knew' LSU was going to win the national title. There was no stopping it.

I'd have to agree with all of these except I'd add in:

Davey to Royal in 2000 against UT.

Mauck running all over UT in the 2001 SECCG.

Justin Vincent's 64 yard dash from the Tigers own 30 in the NCG (and right after the announcers mde some comment about LSU getting nowhere running into the teeth of the OU D-Line).

Skyler Green to the end zone in the NCG.

Justin Vincent's 87 yard TD run against UT in the '03 SECCG.

Mauck to Henderson against Ole Miss in '03.

Lavalais pushing Ole Miss center into Eli Manning to clinch the game.

Watching Tommy Banks go through Jevon Kearse arms to score in the game in which they beat the number one ranked gators in Tiger Stadium. It was the first game in which I took my son too. He was seven years old at the time. He is now a freshman at LSU.

Ole Miss last year. I literally could have caught the game winning FG from my seat (we caught 3 during warm ups) had Les, Gary, and JJ not screwed it up.

Dont remember the year but LSU hosted the regional at the PMack and Anthony Wilson hit a short bank shot to send LSU on! It was the Blanto, Reddon, team and we had to beat Ga Tech (price, sally, etc) and Memphis St (bedford) with their 7 footers. Of course we had no shot......yeah right, we slayed the dragons!

Found it: And forgot we beat KENTUCKY to go to the Final Four

Ultimate March Madness: Great Moments 40

35. 1986 LSU
The LSU Tigers, a #11 seed out of the Southeast Regional, become the first double digit seed to advance to the Final Four.

Despite their seeding, the Tigers play their first two games at home in Baton Rouge (this was the last year a team got to play tournament games on its home floor) and used the home-court to their advantage as the Tigers knocked off #6 seed Purdue 94-87 in double overtime of their first round game, then forward Anthony Wilson hit a game-winning jump shot as time expired for a 83-81 upset over #3 seed Memphis in the second round.

LSU moved on the Sweet Sixteen in Atlanta where they defeated #2 seed Georgia Tech 79-64 to advance to the Elite Eight where they would face top-seeded Kentucky, a team that had defeated LSU three times during the 1986 season.

Using their “Freak Defense”, the Tigers knocked off the Wildcats 59-57 for a stunning berth in the Final Four where they would be eliminated by eventual national champion Louisville.
