seems to me Canada is just a very thin skinned individual. The whole idea that a HC is not going to have his input into a game plan is absurd. With the amount of penalties and disorganization in the offense early in the season that he was told to pull it back some would have been expected from any HC with a pulse

No help was needed to push Les out. He lost a lot of the fanbase on 1/9. Then when he refused to changed and continued to underachieve LSU had no choice. Did O politic to get the interim tag? I have no idea. Doesn't matter to me really because that shouldn't have meant anything. Can't blame a guy for trying to get a job unless he did something blatantly unethical. The blame should go to the person who actually put him in charge.

Yes I agree. Les gets part of the blame for ever hiring Ed Orgeron while he was unemployed and trusting him.

Aranda would have made a lot more sense for interim, but he’s just not into good ole boy politics.

Ed saw an opportunity because of Les’ shortcomings to weasel his way into a position he was never qualified for because he’s a politically savvy car salesman.

The blame is with Alleva for being grossly incompetent and buying a 1980 opel for the price of a new Bentley.

Who knows if he wanted it? Who knows if he would even want it now? O was once the highest paid assistant for Pete Carrol. It's obvious he has a lot to prove as a head coach and I'm don't think he will but he's not some bum off the street. He's been a college or NFL coach his professional life. Aside from 2-3 years which wasn't consecutive.

Was he a coordinator? The guy was always a position coach. I’m sure he was paid handsomely for his recruiting.

I mean, if you can convince an AD to make you HC when literally nobody else wants you, I’m sure you can convince some kids to come play for you.

The guy isn’t stupid like some here say. He’s savvy. Just not HC material.

That would qualify.

Cost fans?

Canada has been labeled as difficult to work with.

Stop it.

He was at NC State for 3 seasons.

A Pitt for 1 before he was hired by LSU.

Just face it, given the current "situation", this is not most attractive spot for an OC.

Not foreign. Aranda runs the show on Defense. Why would the OC not expect autonomy

Listen to what you are saying. Do you think that Dave and O don't discuss the D game plans prior to them being installed each week? A head coach oversees the entire program which includes the offense and defense. Matt turned out to be a weak link and a staff problem.

Whatever the problem was...Canada gave up $1.5 million so we would not know what happened. My guess...it had nothing to do with football

But he did not give up $1.5M. This negotiated buyout will not be reduced by an amount based upon how much he makes coaching over the next two years. His regular buyout would have been reduced by his new coaching salary.

While it is not likely that MC will get another job making $1M/yr like he did at LSU.....if he did, he would actually be getting a raise because of this negotiated buyout.

to answer your question take a trip back in time; the first 4 games of the year. LSU offense was heavily, heavily penalized and they obviously were not performing. this was evident when nearly shut out against MSU and couldn't even score much against Troy. in short; we had a terrible offense and it was undisciplined as hell. O probably realized his mistake at that time. i'm sure O was rough on Canada and I think he should have been; this is big boy football.

the offense improved a bit (florida was a break delux) gradually and we beat some pretty weak teams. then we lost to bama and never really challenged. lastly, we scored 17 measly points agaist notre dame and i'm sure that was finis.

the fact is matt Canada did not improve our offense and was paid highly to do so. I was hoping he would get another year but what do I know.

the rant, I'm sure, will not like this explanation because it is not dramatic enough. i'm certain that you will hear about massive infidelity, recruiting expense cheating, fist fights in the locker room and other neat stuff that reality tv uses to gain audience.

This is what happened according to me. O pitches binder with Kiffin as oc. Kiffin being the jerk everyone knows he is backs out. O informs Alleva. Alleva looks for splash hire and picks Canada. O has no say. During season he doesn't like the offense and tries to modify. Canada runs to Alleva like a little cry baby. O feels betrayed and is done with Canada. Alleva calls meeting and o is told to back off. Alleva leaves O hung out to dry. O tells Alleva it isn't going to work.

Look at the press conference. O isn't happy with the hire. Ever see blind side?? Can't act. Alleva is more to blame. He won't take the blame because media and fans already blaming O

O couldn't learn the plays and butt in to call them. Trying to find a guy that can draw up plays in braille.
