The question was: Best LSU freshman year basketball performance? I didn’t see anything in there about competition played or what year played.
I’m going to go with 44 points a game along with 10 rebounds.

Chris Jackson.... only right answer.

Definitely Chris Jackson. Would have been Pistol Pete, but they didn’t play as freshmen.

Well, it depends on if you consider playing on the freshman/JV team or not. If so, Pistol, if not, CJ. Ben had a great season, but he didn't make the team better. With a talent like him that team should have made the NCAA tourney. When CJ was a freshman that team was better because of him. And there were no other future NBA players on that team with him.

Abdul-Rauf with Simmons close 2nd
Not only is Simmons not a "close 2nd".....he's not even 2nd. It's Jackson and Maravich at 1 and 2. You could make an argument for either one of them being in the 1 slot

I met a guy from California who had never been to Louisiana until he decided to produce a movie here. When he cap to my office for a meeting and saw my LSU degree all he wanted to do was talk about Chris Jackson.

And if you've watched him in the 3 on 3 league, he can STILL shoot!

Any number of Chris Jackson’s games!

Only one player in the entire history of the SEC was top 5 in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and fg% in the same season
That person was an LSU freshman
That person is also blamed and called terrible on this board
Go figure

Correct.....and not just 'shoot pretty good for an ex-nba player". He can still shoot - Period.
