Chris Jackson had an amazing year as a freshman. Totally out shined the rest of the talent on the team (which was heavily talented). If your too young to remember him then your answer is probably Ben Simmons although the rant will eat me alive for saying so. For some reason he doesn't get the respect most tigers get on here.

Jackson
Setting an NCAA fros scoring record and finished at 30+ points per game and had 130 assist.

CJ35 without a doubt.
Yeah, you could remove LSU and substitute NCAA and it's still correct.

Because I'm a homer, I'll throw in Torris Bright as an honorable mention.

That was Maravich without the three point rule.
CJ was well worth the price of admission.
He was a constant high light reel.
Vs Tennessee he stole the ball from the Vol point guard, drove the length of the court and scored.
Tennessee brought the ball in again. Chris stole the ball again and scored. It appeared to be an instant replay.
Vs Ms St. Chris had a below average scoring night. After the game the TV guy interviewed the Ms St defender and asked him how he was successful in defending Chris. I admire his honesty! He told the interviewer, "I was hitting his arm each time he went up to shoot and the Ref wasn't calling it".
As a freshman Chris would often dunk the ball. When playing vs Alabama, as Chris was preparing to leap, the Alabama center stepped on Chris' foot spraining Chris' ankle. In my memory he didn't dunk as often after that incident.
