Falcons vs. Saints, 2006 is the loudest game in the Superdome...maybe ever.

Not really. I went to both this and the USC game.

Plus, that's not really a valid comparison. With the Superdome, you're talking about an indoor venue that held like 15,000 more people than Tiger Stadium at the time.

For the first quarter of the Falcons game - yeah, of course, it was deafening, and especially so on the blocked punt (maybe the loudest single noise I've ever heard). But that game was pretty nonchalant by halftime.

I wasn't making a comparison.

Actually Tiger Stadium's capacity in 1979 was 78,000+. The West Upper had been completed the previous year.

If I could go back to one game without knowing the outcome and I was at the 2003 National Champ game.
It would be USC '79. Actually not even close. It was that special.
Met a lady earlier this year. She had on an LSU sweater and looked about my age. I asked her if she was at the game. She said 'Yes' and we hugged. It was that incredible.

I went to the 84 game at the Coliseum, and it was like USC were completely uninspired. One of the most listless performances ever by USC. I hate day games at the Coliseum because of THAT game.

We need a resumption of the rivalry that isn't, because a home and home with LSU would be earth shattering.

Most electric atmosphere and loudest game I have ever attended in my 38 years of going to TS. Student section only sat down at halftime. Just an unbelievable game. Walked out of TS after the game exhausted.

+1 - my first game as a student. Still gives me chills when I think about it.

Going through this thread is amazing. Very little disagreement. It is one thing that Tiger fans that were there can agree upon.

Maybe the only thing.

So the LSU fans are biased and you are completely objective. I get it.

My dad always told me Charles White is lucky that game took place in 1979 and not now, otherwise someone would of snapped a picture of him flipping off the LSU student section and his little Heisman Trophy would of never happened.

Could be wrong, went to a Shaw HS game that night, and then to get ice cream after. Listened to the end in the car, incredulous. John Ferguson was totally in awe of the Tiger Stadium crowd.

As my spotty memory recalls, they even started commenting that stadium staff was turning out the lights, and people still would not leave or stop cheering.

I think it's the only thing USC and LSU fans can agree on: If you weren't there, you wish to hell you could have been.

What a game.

No we can agree on one more thing Lower -
Oklahoma should not have been in the 2004 Sugar Bowl.
