Yup:

1997: The SEC changed its own rule, giving the home team sole discretion over jersey color for SEC games. That is the crucial point. From then on, LSU could choose white for an SEC home game without getting the visitor's permission.

Unpopular thought: if Ole Miss chooses white jerseys, we should wear powder blue and call them "faded purple."

Kiffin at halftime: "I knew Mississippi had tons of Tiger fans. Look at all those faded purple jerseys!"

Sometime between then and now, the SEC dropped the requirement for the visiting team to agree. Now it’s 100% home team choice.

That rule dropped while Dinardo was here too. That's how Florida wore white at home against us in 1998 while Dinardo was still our coach.

According to Ole Miss athletics website its a Red/Blue Stripe Out game so Idk where the rumor is about all white unis....

They give fans instructions on what color to wear every game. That isn't necessarily what the team wears. For instance, in their first game they told fans to wear powder blue. Their team wore navy

Yeah, people are trying to smell their own farts over mid-90s semantics when the rule saying SEC teams can wear white at home with no restrictions in SEC games was put in place 30 years ago.

For those of us who lived thru the curly hallman years, those purple jerseys were a nightmare that never ended. That is where the queasiness comes from. black magic is now gone but I prefer the dark jerseys with white pants and helmets

I don't know what color uniform they are wearing, but they're so ghey they actually have a website that tells their fans what to wear. This weekend fans are asked to alternate wearing red and powder blue depending on their specific seating section to create a striped pattern across the stadium.

Former LSU coach Mike Archer faced the same jersey stupidity from a childish fan base in the 1980s. He continued to win in purple and sometimes made comments about how ridiculous the "unlucky" jerseys were. Some LSU fans are beyond ignorant and, I'm afraid, vote. Which is frightening.

1. He HAD to wear purple at home back then, he had no choice. It was an NCAA requirement begun in 1983 for all home teams to wear color jerseys and all away teams to wear white jerseys.

2. He won his first two years (1987-88), then lost in his next two (89-90).

Post less.

I personally don't like the purple jerseys along with the gold(yellow) pants like the last game. It's too much color and looks like what some of the high schools wear.

LSU went to 2 Sugar Bowls, won an SEC title and shared another one in the ‘80s while wearing the same uniforms Hallman’s teams wore. It’s not the uniforms, it’s the coaches and the players.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a gold-gold-gold combo one time just to see how it looks, but not for an SEC game and certainly not for this Ole Miss game.

If OM is going white, then it should ideally be G-P-G, with W-P-W also acceptable.

I did not suggest Mike Archer had a choice to wear or not to wear purple jerseys. He simply refuted the alleged "jinx" as absurd. Improve your retention and (anal)ytical skills. Read more.
