Slight hijack:

Tiger fans would have exploded if a player got drafted during a regional final like Rolison from Ole Miss last night.

The Rebs were celebrating and bro hugging in the dugout while Tenn Tech was winning the game. Awkward.

It's been talked about for years. The timing of the draft is ridiculous.

Yep. I remember when it used to fall during the CWS.

Another OSU player, Drew Rasmussen, over the board. 6 in 6 rounds.

Wish we could have played them next year.

Eh, it isn’t really MLB’s job to set their timeline to accommodate the few remaining college teams still playing. And if they did move it back even more to remove those scenarios they would likely want the signing deadline pushed back again, which college baseball would also bitch about.

Funny thing is, he was out all season due to injury/TJ surgery. He was drafted in the 1st round last year and decided to come back only to get hurt.

The CWS also used to be earlier with a single finals game. It gets extended an extra 2 weeks now because of that. But you don't really need a month to sign either.

Hope he's ready for like a $75k offer if that

And it used to be even earlier when there wasn’t a SR round. I understand college coaches have grievances with the timeline and it complicates things, but MLB can certainly push back on the large percentage of college coaches who aren’t responsible when it comes to a health and development standpoint and still be on the right side of the argument.

Didn't I read on here somewhere that he didn't sign last year because of a poor MRI result so the team didn't want to pay him much?

Seems like that team made the right choice, assuming said MRI issue was his elbow.

There were some issues with his MRI. I just found this tidbit.

Baseball America, citing "two sources familiar with the situation," reported two weeks ago that there were "discrepancies" between Rasmussen's predraft MRI exam and the MRI conducted as his postdraft physical by the Rays.

How crazy is the baseball draft?

We are all excited our players and recruits aren't good enough to be drafted high!!!

CPM has put it bluntly before over the years. They recruit good players and the risk is that they are TOO good for college baseball. He wants them to become future MLB stars between year 3 and 4 at LSU.

There's also the chance that some of these drafted players, especially some of the developed college picks, could move up late in the season to be a benefit to the MLB team. So, they obviously want to start that evaluation in their system as soon as they can.

I will be away from the computer for probably the rest of the draft today. I really hope I come back to some good news.
