It's almost as if you don't understand how ticket allotments work.
Conferences mandate how many tickets have to be allotted to visiting teams for conference games. The school then sells as many of the remainder as season tickets.
UT allotted LSU 3500 because that's the amount of tickets they're required to reserve by the Big XII. LSU won't give UT tickets "all over the stadium" because they're going to try and sell those as season tickets.

When was the last time LSU played a team of UT's stature?

. I am hoping that LSU gives UT their 3000+ allotment in TS for 2020 all over the stadium. No more than 6 rows together in UE, US, and UW. Any size band UT could bring would be so spread out they couldn't see their own director.
Top 10 rows of 641, 642 and 643 would be about 800 of the allotment. Then taper it to just a couple of rows across the middle before the final 3 sections on the other end they get a few more rows. That should get around 1600-1700 of the allotment. To be "nice" we could even give them some lower bowl seats by getting the last two rows in the lower south where the overhang gets them. I tend to favor putting them in the east upper to maximize the sun exposure. Make it as much of a pain in the arse as possible. Ultimate passive aggressiveness.

As a home and home, LSU played Notre Dame. Plenty of decent home & home's since but Notre Dame is the "closest to UT's stature" as you put it.

Well said and 100% correct. UT is doing what their conference allows them to do. The SEC mandates that visiting SEC schools must be given a minimum of 7,500 tickets, of which a certain percentage must be in the lower level of the stadium. The Big XII has no requirement to seat visitors in the lower level, so their member schools can allocate the required number of seats (3,500) in any way they wish.
I can only assume that Texas will receive the same number of tickets (3,500) when they visit Baton Rouge in 2020. Where LSU chooses to place those seats is entirely up to them. My hope is that the seats usually occupied by visiting fans in the southeast corner will be sold to LSU fans, and the Texas fans will all be seated in the East upper deck.

Those are the celebs/politicos and big time contributors etc. you will NEVER have a big game like this w/o them ! The LSU sidelines are VERY close to the field of play and there is zero 'room' behind the end zones ! Just where might you place 'bleachers' to seat several hundred longhorn band members ? Bring 'em if you please but they will be high in the upper decks. Horns should have thought of this BEFORE 'negotiating' such a visitor seating arrangement...lol

It appears that reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. I'm not advocating special seats for the Texas band only. I meant that it's a shame that both schools can't accommodate the visiting bands, but I understand that tickets will go to high-ranking season ticket holders. As far as Texas "negotiating" the seating arrangement, go back and read any of several posts detailing how the Big XII and SEC allocate seats to visitors.

this is false. Only Bama and Texas were more expensive than Vandy

LSU used to put visiting bands in temporary bleachers in the ramps fans take to get to their seats above the visitor tunnel

Yes, but more fans would probably travel to Ole Miss/Miss State and thus we would sell out of our ticket allotment. The price for Ole Miss, Miss State & Vandy are pretty close.

1. LSU allots 6500 max not 7500 to visitors. The amount is set by contract between schools. Arkansas gets 5K as does A&M. UGA got 6500 as did alabama. The max is set but the actual amount is set by individual contracts with schools. These facts came from the head of the Athletic Ticket Office in 2017.
2. I have watched, in person, LSU games at Washington, at SoCal, at Syracuse, at Ohio State, at Florida State, at Virginia Tech, at Notre Dame, at Nebraska, at Arizona, at Texas A&M in the 1980s and 1990s, and at Arizona State. Texas' arrangements for visitors are the most bush league I have seen.

Is that TCU band picture real? Screw carrying all that equipment to the upper deck
It wouldn’t matter how many tickets LSU would be given they’d still would only bring a pep band which is basically worthless. The bad isn’t good enough any more to have a pep band sound good or even be heard

1. The LSU AD determines which games the full band goes to, not the Dean of the School of Music.
2. LSU should NEVER have agreed to play UTexass in Austin given these ridiculous fan/band circumstances. LSU has played all over the country and has never had such absurd restrictions given it by a home team.

This has ‘ Alleva negotiation’ written all over it. He probably never even asked or failed to set an anchor of any sort.

Vanderbilt tickets are more expensive than every SEC away game not named Alabama.

Aside from this absurd declaration, the context of the comment was regarding non-conference games.

"to be nice"....???? LSU gets ZERO seats in the lower bowl = TX gets ZERO seats in the lower bowl !
Posted on 7/2/19 at 7:46 am to austintexastiger
And those 'temporary bleachers" have long since been inhabited by LSU season ticket holders !

i am sure that game will be moved to houston or some neutral site.
Alleva is no longer with LSU, so that is not likely to happen.

i am talking about the big blank space between sec 543 and 550 on the current seating map - there are no bleachers or seats there but years ago bleachers were put in those pedestrian ramps for visiting bands esp when they gave little notice they were coming such as Florida when they were invited to perform at a Saints halftime and tied into going to the LSU game at the last minute
