You don't need a laminated play sheet when you only run five plays.

He also made a few good throws that the receivers couldn't come down with. What I liked about him is that he had touch on the ball and he made all the easy throws that Harris often missed.

I've said in a few other threads that Etling looks better doing things. He appears to be more fundamentally sound, so the same completion from each of them looks a little better when Etling does it. The same overthrow or under throw looks better from Etling. Etling wins over people because of the subjective things, which is fine with me because Harris hasn't done enough to deserve the benefit of the doubt IMO.

I just think the people who believe Etling made it clear he is the better player are really just being optimistic and hopeful that he is better. There is nothing wrong with that though.

When he makes a bad decision starting a player that isn't up to the task, he will not change, he keeps trying to force a round peg through a square hole. He did it with JL and JJ. The only reason he put DE in was he knew he would be out of a job if he didn't make a change.

Yes because being fired is so much better than being wrong. That is the stupidest reasoning I read on here.

Because he thinks of the players as more than just players. He is a players coach and wants them to succeed and when they don't it's painful.

So is he only focused on player failure and not success? After Etling led the team to 27 points in the 2nd Quarter, he should have been excited for the TEAM, but appeared to be mourning for Harris,

Which video shows Harris checking a different route? I see him staring down WRs on each play.

LSUs offense was playing scared in the 1st quarter. The play calling, the QBing and everyone else seemed terrified of making mistakes. So everyone was noticeably hesitant. When Etling entered the game it was as if the fear just went away.

If the past is any guide, then Brandon Harris has taken his last game snaps at QB for LSU barring injury. I think the coaches realized his confidence was not very deep, and they tried limiting the play calls to those he had a higher chance of executing successfully in hopes of building his confidence. It didn't work. There was no new playbook for the 2nd quarter. It was simply a case of the coaches not worrying so much about Etling becoming a basket case if plays did not succeed.

Of course you do. You don't see any dump offs or check downs because you don't want to.

Was it because Etling checked down/ looked at multiple receivers? This seems plausible but are our primary receivers covered that often? When Harris throws it seems like there are always 2 defenders near the receiver. Every receiver Etling threw to was open by ten yards. Why were they all of a sudden so open?

You're absolutely right, especially in saying this. Harris seems to only look at 1 main receiver, maybe 2, then he eyes him the whole time and throws it to him anyway, regardless if he's open or if he's double covered or triple covered. I like how, like you said, Etling checked down and looked at multiple receivers and didn't throw it until he found the open man. He just seems to see the field and makes better decisions thn Harris does. He isn't a world beater, but Etling is still a decent improvement over Harris. I love Harris, but he looks lost.

No, Les is not the "enemy" of the program, but he is the idiot of the program.

Pains me to say this, cause up to now I was CLM all the way. Amongst SEC coaches Les Miles is a Tier 2 Coach (bordering on Tier 3). He simply cannot adapt and much less adjust to game situations. On the Etling interception, hey the guy was a sub. If allowed he will improve. Etling is better game manager.....period.

His (Miles) offense is way too predictable. I mean dang, give me a break. Throw in some misdirection plays, maybe throw in an occasional flea flicka on an end around. Anything to create some hesitation by them linebackers. If you OL isn't getting the job done and you're primarily smash mouth, don't take a rocket scientist to figure out any DC worth his salary is going to zero in on your QB and rattle him. IMO that's what happened in this Wisky game. Wisky stacked the box, and dared LSU to throw. We know what happened. Miles could not (or would not) adjust.

I ain't no coach. Even I can figure out LSU's problem, and the problem is in the mind of that guy being paid $ 4.38 million dollars.

I would tend to agree. The 2nd quarter offense didn't seem to be a "Les Miles" controlled offense. The second half, going to the power I, had Les written all over it. Miles could not take being humiliated any more. He doesn't need to here next year. His whole attitude last night was subdued and pouty.

That first check down gif was not a check down. He stared down the receiver and moved the pocket until he got open.

do believe this is how Miles thinks. All the passes right out of the gate had me thinking "Do they want him to fail?", then I thought "maybe Miles told Cam to do whatever he wants, and so he is doing so".
