Nuss - really thought he would have a killer instinct and he doesn’t. His preseason hype was off the charts

SRyan- thought he would make a big jump this season and he’s turned out what we thought.

JWilliams - seems to have regressed this season. Not sure if it’s play selection or what but it’s disappointing as hell our run game is from 1920

The one that immediately stands out to me is Nuss. I still think overall he's playing well considering the playcalling, etc., but my goodness I thought he'd have a much better deep ball than he has shown. So many overthrows or misses. All the deep shots are really short to mid-range passes that go for big YAC, like AA against A&M.

Yea originally i downplayed his deep ball not being great at the beginning of the season but as the season progressed it's clear he flat out struggles throwing deep accurately despite the arm strength. This has led to teams sitting on our intermediate routes not scared of being burned deep

Jackson- stunned how bad he's been
Oline run game- stunned how we can't get 1 yard
Green/ pimpton- was fooled into twin tower toss it up fade sets.
Hilton- thought he's catch 10 40+ yard balls
Durham- way better 1st year then expected

Swinson- no one expected his huge production year
Dts- no names and true fr holding their own all year
Penn/sage/ burns/ gilbert- stunned at no improvement and little impact gilbert has made
Woodland- very impressed for 170 lb true fr to be holding his own most games

Punting- cause it isn't hard for 80+ other teams to do it better

As I have for many years, I bought into a lot of hype.

OLine. Thought Campbell and Jones would be studs.

WR: I was one of the few here that wanted Lacey back as I thought he would improve. Nope. Still drops a lot of passes, runs lazy routes, then acts like he won the super bowl by shooting everyone in sight. Done with him.

Nuss: I was on the "Nuss can win awards with the right coaching" until last game. His antics after the TD, followed by him consistently running away from a pocket and into sacks/tunrovers, constant throwing into double coverage off his back foot, etc... He won't improve with more starts. This is what he is. He is a poor man's Jarrett Lee and he plays scared out of his mind.

OC and DC. I was on the Baker hype train up until we ran into mobile QBs. Now it seems we are the only program in the country that can't scheme for this. It is hilarious.

OC is literally one of the worst play callers I have ever witnessed, and I lived through the Hallman years. As soon as something works, we immediately don't do it and go back to passes into double coverage on first down. He won't help Nuss (not that he can be helped) with this play calling.

Won't be duped again by BK or this staff. I know to expect 3-4 losses a year no matter how good of a team he may field.

I think the deep ball is on the players as much as nuss.

Nuss has consistently over or underthrown receivers this season that have gotten behind the secondary.

We don't have guys that can go high point. Lacey is too slow for go routes it seems, Anderson is 5'8, zavion maybe 5'10, Parker hurt, hilton looks like worst college wr ever seen.

Nuss' ball placement has been horrible on the majority of his deep throws over the course of the season. It has nothing to do with the receivers or their heights.

Can’t add much other than to say that C. Hilton hasn’t been able to get his timing back it seems. From his first game back his jumps to attack the ball at the high point have been way too soon. Seen this in every single game he’s played.

None. I was mainly annoyed with other posters for pumping up the retention of sage and major. Everyone puts on their P&G glasses this time of the year and it's always the exact same crap.

Next years class is ranked 4 on On3 and 6 on 24/7 just like other recent classes yet you have people on here calling it th3 greatest. Still no freaking top ranked DTs either. It's insane.

Respectfully, i gotta disagree with you here. the 2025 class if it sticks together is absolutely the best class of the bk era. This isn't just another good recruiting class. For one, your top ranked DT take will change if we land Jahkeem stewart which we have a good chance of doing.plus we have multiple big bodied 4 star defensive tackles. It's also the best db class we have had in quite some time. Two 5 star corners in Pickett and Phillips and the no1.1 cb in lousiana in Aidan Anding . There is a very good chance the class will finish in the top 3. Rn we currently have 4 5 stars (Underwood, Berry, Pickett,Phillips) with a good chance of getting that to 6( Carius Curne will be a 5 star he is borderline right now and adding stewart would be another 5 star). So yes everything is in place for this to be a game changing class

Fat, lacking leadership and accountability and the biggest disappointment of the season has to be number 66

Offense:
Chester lacks football smarts to read defensive fronts needed from a center
Jackson lacks vision/instinct to fine running lanes and always runs toward contact when running around would gain more yards
Hilton just can’t catch deep balls
Nuss has horrible footwork and his deepball is off target
Defense
Gilbert/Burns both take bad angles and over run plays or hit wrong hole, poor tacklers
Penn expected to be leader but same as safeties, poor tackling and bad angles, gets blocked and stays block
Jones just refuses to set the edge and misses too many tackles

This is such a depressing question. Even some of the Steady Eddies from the two previous seasons have been underwhelming in '24.

Is it not fair to ask who is the coach developing Lacy and Hilton?

I expected more out of him too but since we haven’t seen it I expect he comes back next year. My preseason expectations for Nuss next year is heisman contender. JD5 had plenty of criticism here 2 years ago then was a runaway heisman on a 3 loss team last year.

The difference is that JD was a little hesitant in the new offense but in year 1 wasn’t a turnover machine and his “bad decisions” were safe decisions.

Nuss is dangerous with the ball and has not improved since he’s been here.

Even in his best games before this year, he made questionable decisions in the SECCG (got away with some)and bowl game (another red zone pick)

It seems like everyone on the team either didn’t get better or regressed. Besides Swinson. Josh Williams was never a superstar RB but he has been pretty effective in the past. Now he is just not good. Our first round tackles are playing like poo. It has to be the anemic offensive scheme. Like what the heck is going on

From promise and optimism, to a QB with little confidence who won't take the run when it is there and forces the ball by locking on receivers (namely M. Taylor). As the competition got better, his performance got worse. Hope he can bounce back over the next two weeks. It will be interesting to see what type of fight he has in him.
