Yeah in before Jack Hunt and all that but my favorite and I think his best is Cresse's game winning single in 2000. It's an immaculate call.

It really was.

There isn't one. Jim Hawthorne is the worst sports announcer that I have ever heard for any team. That much is undeniable.

The Warren Morris call is too cluttered and he gets it wrong. The Cresse walk off call is perfect.

So, the thread is "What's your favorite call", and when anyone gives an opinion different than yours, you argue with them. Nice. Maybe you should have called it "Let me tell you what your favorite call should be."

"4th and 8 from the Tigers 49, with 1:01 to play, and if the Tigers can't convert here, the game is over. Hodson comes up to the line, looks over the defense, and appears that he's making a check down on the play. He drops back....and the pass is.....CAUGHT!!!!! For a first down and goal with the clock ticking down to under 50 seconds...no.....wait.....now they're ruling it's an interception....well, I don't know how they're ruling that Doug.....but now....it looks like the game is over and the Tigers lose this one.....my oh my..."

You asked "favorite", not "best". Some of his flubs were gold.

JACK HUNT! This is the famous quote which is most representative of Jim Hawthorne.

My sentiments exactly, but certainly not in a negative way. Hawthorne is FAR from a perfect play by play guy, but you can feel his love for the Tigers through those speakers. Not such a bad way to be remembered, in my book.

That one time when he didn't screw it up. I think it was back in the '80's.

Kinda strange that this one sticks out but i remember getting chills hearing him call the Matt Mauck TD pass to Skyler Green in the 2003 Georgia regular season game. Still remember it to this day, what a call. Uncle Jim will be missed.

" Holee Cow what a game!"
Tears in my eyes about then, laughing and bawling.
