It's all irreverent. There was no search that took place.
But why was there no search? I understand that the idiots fans were in a frenzy because LSU beat up on some bad teams and they thought it was because of the local coach. But the AD has to put the emotions aside and do what is right. How did he convince his superiors that a legit search was not needed? So many questions that will never be answered.

A search committee should have been formed and Alleva shouldn't have done this search alone. We fire a coach 2 weeks into the season and we end up with Ed O of all people? This is a nightmare and any one who watched him at Ole Miss knew what he was.

It should be mentioned that:
a) Aranda was the golden boy (still is IMO) and there was concern that another coach would insist on bringing their own DC. IOW, keep O, keep Dave.
b) The Les backdrop was poor offense. Stay as close to what Les had built as we could just update the offense. Remember all the Kiffin rumors?

What's going on is that we're headed for 6-6, possibly worse. We can't hope to compete in the SEC without enough DL to even substitute. No QB, not enough quality OL to make a solid starting unit, and WRs that still struggle to run routes and catch the ball. We were exposed in the trenches and the only answer for that is recruiting, which wont help us win any games this year.

Supposedly right after the hire CEO was on the phone with Kiffin with Alleva and FKA listening in
CEO asked Kiffin who he thought the next LSU OC would be and Kiffin allegedly said "it better fricking be me"
They were drunk on the PR of pulling BAMA's OC away during the SECCG Week and then Kiffin got run from BAMA and took off for FAU

I hate speculating, but he probably had collusion with the LSU BOS to go out and hire O from the start. O's media minions probably politiced the right folks on the LSU BOS Emmert and Charlie Weams did the search when Saban was hired. It was a legit committee and the circle was small.

I'm fairly convinced that we ended up with Orgeron because Alleva was embarrassed when Herman played him for the Texas

Maybe all those prospective coaches read the the rant and saw their future . There is no such thing as magical coaches who can solve your problems , herman lost two out of three of his last games !

So long as we're speculating, I've always assumed O and the Gang were making waves behind the scenes from the end of the 2015 season after Miles was retained. I fully believe that O was politicking for this job from that point on.
Hard to imagine he'd have even been in consideration without a lot of grease having been applied for a long time.

What's going on is a lack of successful recruiting, over a long period of time. For many years, our success in recruiting RBs and DBs has masked an overall decline in the quality of linemen and LBs.
Posted on 9/19/17 at 10:45 am to Katy Tiger
The recruiting has fallen off the cliff. Too many good La players leave especially for hated Alabama. No excuse. The problem with LSU football is at the level of the President/BOT. Alleva and Orgeron are merely symptoms.

wait about 20 years and the "behind the scene stuff will surface". hell, it probably will after alleva retires.
it is apparent to me that other qualified candidates didn't want the job; the guy from NC and Gundy of Okie light. LSU was painted in the corner and decided to give O a shot.
now that that's settled why don't you move on. Orgeron IS INDEED THE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AT LSU and how he got there is not even relevant information. it is stale news.

He didn't know anybody better and didn't want to lose a good recruiting class , He should have done the right thing and kept Les and we wouldn't be in this mess !Coach O is a great choice for us who smart enough to realize it !

I'm starting to think that Orgeron was the ONLY option he had.
You don't think we could have had Petrino (I wouldn't have been a fan, but still), Fleck, Mullen, hell, a number of guys with proven track records - if Alleva had opened the checkbook. Go back to the press at the time. Alleva's own words make it clear as vodka - he did not want to bid for talent and he did not want to negotiate.
So, with those criteria, O was his only choice. Malfeasance is the word for what Alleva did. That's not on O. That's on Alleva. I say this thinking at the time that the hire might work with a world class OC and the stars aligning just right. I say this rooting like hell for this football team to prove the naysayers wrong.
That's how bad this "process" of replacing Miles was.

I'm starting to wonder if the rumors about Bob Stoops was true.
I would much rather him than Coach O

Someone said the big buyout was not for O but for Alleva. To protect himself in a way.
Didn't Ole Miss promise O he would get 4 years no matter what, only to fire him after 3?
O might have asked for the yuuuge buyout based on that plus the fact that 9-3 is a fireable offense.
