If this is the reason then how in the hell would LSU make it through the playoffs?
I think the whole loosing the title and 3-4 in a row makes the game much bigger.
That game has been the NCG for LSU a few times.

Hmm, why did Saban lose to Arkansas while at LSU then?
He lost twice.
The first was in his first season when we were still very much a work in progress, having also lost to UAB. The offense couldn't get going on a drizzly day in Little Rock and Saban didn't pull Booty for Davey, which he later admitted was a mistake and did not repeat it in the bowl game. Arkansas won 14-3.
The second was "Miracle on Markham" in Little Rock, when six DBs and two LBs dropping deep into coverage somehow still gave up a 50+ yard pass and a 25 yard pass for a TD in the final 30 seconds of a game in which Arkie had completed 2 of 15 passes for about 20 yards in the first 59 and a half minutes. Hogs won 21-20.
The other games:
2001: Arkie scores late to pull within 41-38, but LSU runs out the clock on the ensuing possession.
2003: LSU blowout 55-24
2004: LSU blowout 43-14
So, Saban was 3-2 and a miracle from being 4-1. Two of his three wins were easy blowouts. Miles is 6-5 with the following wins:
2005: Hold on for a 19-17 win at home
2006: Squeak out a 31-26 win in L.R.
2009: Get bad call in our favor to keep late tying drive alive, win in OT 33-30
2011: Blowout win 41-17
2012: Late defensive stand deep in our territory keeps Arkie out of the end zone to preserve 20-13 win
2013: Anthony Jennings keys an unlikely 99-yard drive in the final minutes to pull out 31-27 win
And far from needing a rebuilding LSU in its first year after the darkest period in its history or a veritable miracle, Arkansas has found multiple ways of beating LSU under Les Miles:
2007: Outlast the national champions in three OTs, 50-48
2008: Rally for 17 points in 4th quarter to win 31-30 after trailing 30-14
2010: Watch LSU's Keystone Kops hand them a game that wasn't really competitive in the 4th quarter, 31-23
2014: Complete domination 17-0
2015: Complete domination 31-14
The suggestion that this is just an Arkansas thing unique to LSU is simply not valid. DiNardo went 3-1 against Arkie, his 2-8 team also beat them in '99 after he was fired, and even Curley Hallman managed to close out his career with a win in Little Rock to finish 1-2 vs. Hogs. All five of those wins were by double digit margins.
Miles, not LSU, has a problem with Arkansas. And his problem is that his teams look like crap for the most part after they play Alabama.

I don't know but it needs to stop. I live right beside Ft. Smith, AR and take hearing it from these hog fans anymore.

This myth that Saban had no talent to work with when he got here
I've never read that from anyone. The only time I ever see that is when guys like you deny it.
Everyone knows LSU always has lots of NFL talent. When I was in college, in the 80's we were fairly average, but I can remember one year when we had future NFL'ers: Eric martin, Dalton Hilliard, Herman Fontenot,Ramsey dardar, Bill Elko, Leonard Marshal, Al Richardson, Rydell Melancon, Jeff Dale, Lifort Hobley, Gino Daniels, and Jimmy Britt...and we still couldn't win our bowl game. (I probably mixed and matched a couple of years, but you get the drift.)
The point isn't that Saban came in and radically improved our talent (he did, BTW), it's that Saban came in and radically improved our winning percentage.

Just checking in to see if anyone has mentioned that when LSU loses to Arkansas, it has something to do with the fact that our team just isn't as talented as is typical for the Tigers.
Case in point, 2008, 2014, and 2015.

Not reading through this thread, but there are a number of factors:
1) schedule. LSU is usu coming off the Alabama game and there's a letdown; Arkansas is usu playing well after some bad early season losses, so it's a must-win for them
2) Bert vs Chavis philosophies. Bielema wants enormous offensive linemen pounding in a downhill game, Chavis wanted faster, small linemen and linebackers for pressure and containment. This is just an unfortunate matchup; it's also going away now that Chavis is gone.

When LSU-Arkie was the last game of the season, Miles' teams went 6-3 versus Arkie. SEC moved it to the week after LSU-bama and Miles is 0-2 versus Arkie. THAT is the explanation.
If LSU played any SECW team after alabama every year, the problem would be the same.

#1 We're beat up vs. Bama
#2 We're emotionally spent from.losing to Bama
#3 Brett knows Les isn't going to change offense so he bets the farm on run blitzes.

So fricking stupid to have an sec West game after bama.
So dumb. Would love to see teams like arky/ole miss earlier in the season. Rent a win after bama.

Even when they played Arky a few weeks after Bama, LSU just seems to play flat against the Hogs.
2000---Your description was great.
2002---Same. Flat.
2005---LSU squeaked out a 19-17 victory after leading at one point 19-3.
2007---Triple OT loss to an Arky team that had no business being on the same field as LSU.
2008---LSU lost to a 4-7 Arky team in one of the worst LSU losses in the last ten years.
2009---LSU won in OT, 33-30 in a great game that I really don't remember except that we won on a field goal in a rare Saturday night game against the Hogs.
2010---#5 LSU laid an egg to a good #12 Arky team, 31-23, in the last Little Rock game. Mathieu covered an Arky WR poorly and cost us a TD, and Mallette connected on a last second (of the first half) TD in which two LSU defenders collided with one another, creating a red carpet path for a Hogs receiver that put them up by a TD going into halftime. This is a game LSU should have won. Also, we got burned by 13 rushing plays in a row by Arkansas RBs in the fourth quarter which burned a lot of clock. They took it from their three yard line to our three yard line and even though they only got a field goal out of it, it really deflated any hope we had because of the amount of time they took off the clock.
2012---Same old song and dance. Good LSU team, crappy Arky team. Arkansas was an abysmal 0-7 in conference play entering this game. LSU wins this one in the first game in the series at Fayetteville since 1992, but LSU played awful. I was listening to Arky's color commentator on the Razorback Network, and his comments were, "It's another game where LSU is heavily favored, but LSU seems to be saying, 'Hey, we really don't want it, you can have it.'"
2013---For the second year in a row, an 0-7 (in conf play) Arky team takes LSU to the wire. LSU needs a "miracle on South Stadium Drive" (ok I'm reaching but it was a minor miracle) as LSU's backup and virtual unknown QB Anthony Jennings hits fellow Freshman Travin Dural for a 50 yard TD strike after the extremely inexperienced Jennings took over for an injured Mettenberger with the ball on his own one yard line.
All of these games were played three weeks after the Alabama game, so I'm not buying into the "Bama hangover affect."

Rent a win after bama is a good idea. Play Arkie or ole miss the game before bama.

Youre joking right? Lack of talent is the main excuse when losters try to explain Saban's win loss record at lsu.

Try to deny what?

Our 2001 roster is one of the best rosters in lsu history and we lost 3 games under Saban.
Our 2002 roster was stacked and we lost 5 games.
My point is that you cant point to talent as the reason Saban lost so many games at lsu and thats what 80% of this board does.

Eric martin, Dalton Hilliard, Herman Fontenot,Ramsey dardar, Bill Elko, Leonard Marshal, Al Richardson, Rydell Melancon, Jeff Dale, Lifort Hobley, Gino Daniels, and Jimmy Britt...
This list doesnt compare to our 2001 roster.
We had Bradie James, Trev Faulk, Eric Alexander, and Lionel Turner at LB.
Spears, Hill, Lavalais, Howard Green,Jarvis Green, and Kendrick Allen
on the DLINE.
Corey Webster,Ryan Clark,Travis Daniels,Hunt in the secondary
Michael Clayton, Josh Reed, devery henderson and eddie royal as receiving threats.
Addai, Domanick Davis, and Labrandon Toefield in the back field.
And ,IMO, the 3rd best qb in lsu(Rohan Davey)
So stacked.
