How is it that an LSU program with off of this returning talent keeps being left at the altar?

1. Freeman wanted to stay close to him. very simple.

2. Nielson was blocked by the saints.

We're lowballing our offers because we screwed up on the last DC hire.

I don’t think it’s anything specific. I think O is just simply dropping the ball with this hire. What’s super surprising is this hire will probably determine how long he will last at LSU. You’d think he would be on his A game with this but it seems like he isn’t.

I don't know if getting a new position and a raise is being blocked. They wanted to keep him and made the play to do it.

How would you define “blocked” in this context?

There was a stipulation in his contract, the saints triggered that stipulation (when they didn't have to).

Thus, preventing him from taking the job at LSU. This is not complicated.

3. Both used LSU to leverage more money from other opportunities.

You do realize they aren’t physically restraining him inside the Saints facility right? All the Saints did was enforce the contract and ask to be compensated. Neither Nielsen nor LSU wanted to pay it.

Do you think that because the saints didn't lock him in a cage until next season, he could have just worked for LSU? Do you understand how contracts work?

He was literally blocked. they appeased him with the promotion and raise, but he said that he wanted to go coach at LSU.

Maybe he'll reconsider on State's defensive coordinator that he interviewed now. You can only do so much at State.

It would stand to reason at this point, that money might be the primary factor.

Obviously, something is causing multiple people to peel off at the last minute.

No, I clearly stated that all the Saints are doing is asking for their compensation which would allow him to coach at LSU. That is the alternative, but neither he nor LSU wanted to go that route. I’m not sure why you’re so confused.
