I'd say he should take it. He accepted LSU's offer to leave ND, so I don't see an issue should he leave LSU for Michigan. I mean seriously, what good reason is there for having a contract now days.

Pay him 6.5 milly, frees up 2.5-3mm a yr for 5-6 stud recruits / portal kids

Heard someone say this and it makes sense.

Kelly is 62. His sole mission is winning an NC. Look at lsus defensive talent and look at michigans.

If they offer an easier path and more money, kelly being 62 might be a no brainer

Besides, are you totally sold on kelly? I love em but a young buck with less Notre dame recruiting tendencies might be a better fit

Our class is made up of Louisiana kids and the south east. It is nothing close like he had at ND going across the country. LSU is in a way better place than when he stepped on campus. This will be his second full class.. y’all are acting like he’s been here 5+ years.

First off, this is NOT a bash BK post, but no top program is going to target BK for their HC position. Look at BK as a candidate to sell to a fanbase through another AD’s eyes. He is in early 60’s now. He is not a “hot name” candidate pool coach. He is considered a good, not elite, coach and recruiter. Right or wrong he has a reputation as not winning the big games. He just had the nations #1 offense and the Heisman trophy winner and still lost 3 games. He was not on our fanbase wish list when we were looking and became the best option when he reached out as the search had made its way to the Stoops tier.

He is doing very well here and can lead us to a NC. But this is his last stop as he has said for the reason listed above. We will have stability at the top for many years. And he does not hold any leverage for reasons listed above in any contract extension requests.

Scotty will promote Kim Mulkey to head FB coach, Jay Johnson to OC and bring Joe Brady back as OC.
