What have we learned today?

This is not a rhetorical question. I’m honestly asking.
Now is the time for the text wall haters to drop to the bottom of the post.
There are glaring flaws in teams both above and below us. Our team also has a few flaws that can be exploited.
I’ve been a Tiger fan most of my life. I can honestly say that I’ve never seen them field an offense like the one that I’ve seen so far. But there are several offenses in the top 10 that are not better but at least close to equal. So it comes down to special teams, coaching and defense.
I won’t be calling any players out here. I did that shite early in my posting career here and was rightly called out for it more than a decade ago. I think that we all are pretty well aware of where our weaknesses and strengths are on defense. It’s been beaten to death here. But I will say this...the defense has to finally step up.
This is not a knock on the defense. The injured and disciplined players haven’t been there. I get that.
The hard shite starts soon. Every team is forced to deal with injuries and disciplinary problems every year. That’s what coaches are hired and are made millionaires in elite programs for.
My opinion as a several decades fan is that we finally have all of the right pieces of the puzzle very close to in place. Coaching is excellent. Offense, outside of protection and clearing holes, is very good. Special teams are as good or better, under the newer rules, as any overall special teams squad that I’ve ever seen at LSU. Good special teams win close games. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that we won’t have any of those. Defense gets a solid good. Sorry but until they are the glaring reason for a loss they remain at least good in my opinion.
Going into the grinder of the SEC I’m sure that my opinions may change significantly. These are just one fan’s opinion on a message board and I have no doubt that many will disagree. That’s ok.
Bottom line is this. Defense is going to improve. Offensive line will do that too. Both groups will need to do so for LSU to advance to the playoffs. The next few games will tell the tale. I don’t care about Alabama. They are a paper tiger. We will expose them just like Clemson did.
The people that dropped down start here:
Speaking of Clemson....meh. Alabama...meh. Ohio State?...maybe. Oklahoma?...please. LSU beats just about every other team that I’ve watched today unless something really bad happens to several offensive starters.
I didn’t see a team that played today that LSU can’t beat pretty convincingly.
Bring on the downvotes.

Auburn and Florida are better than expected, Utah State doesn't look like an opponent to be feared, and Miss St, Ole Miss, A&M and Arkansas simply suck.

Auburn. Thank God we get them in Death Valley.

We learned that Clemson is not the #1 team. You can't go into Chapel Hill and need a failed 2-point conversion to beat a 2-2 UNC team, and expect to be ranked #1. Also, A&M only beats R-Kansas by 4, $75 million down the drain

Auburn/Florida in the swamp next week looks very, very interesting. I hope it's a bruising, physical game and both teams are considerably softened up by the time LSU hosts them.
