Bad according to an interview with Dellenger a few weeks ago. LSU wanted the basketball and football infractions separated and resolved quickly. The NCAA has dragged this out over multiple years and it seems like they might bring the hammer down on both programs.

When did LSU ever get a Notice of Allegations?

The football issue was self reported.

It essentially takes the NCAA out of the investigation/hearing process, etc. It's only supposed to be for "complex" cases/investigations. The IARP committee is made up of independent people (i.e. not employees of the NCAA). They'll decide if penalties are warranted and what those penalties are. There is no appeal process (though I suspect that would be challenged in the courts)

This article somewhat explains it...though it is new and still confusing. So far, only Memphis is "officially" going through process

LINK

Today's NCAA press release says this:

quote:

A request for referral of the infractions case involving LSU to the Independent Accountability Resolution Process was granted by the Infractions Referral Committee. Consistent with rules and procedures governing the process, details about the matter will remain confidential until the Independent Resolution Panel releases its decision.

The school can request that the investigation go to the IARP, but it looks like this request was made by the NCAA, not LSU.

Presumably the Memphis case will be decided first. When that happens, who knows?

My opinion: The NCAA knows Wade likely paid players and/or offered benefits. They are just having a difficult time gathering hard evidence of such beyond the wiretaps and will leave it up to the IARP to potentially investigate deeper (perhaps with more clout) and if the IARP ultimate dismisses the whole thing the NCAA can save face by saying it wasn't their fault.

In short, no one can say if this is good or bad.

Hard to says I know we didn’t want the football stuff going to the IARP.

But this doesn’t say if it is or isn’t. Honestly if all they found with the OLOL was payment made to 1 player’s dad years ago and 1 former pLayers family I think We’re good.

The Prosecutors picked through that thing. If we were using it to pay players they would have probably found a lot of them. This seems more like good ole fashion fraud by some people with LSU connection.

IARP decisions cannot be appealed and are meant to be much more severe.

We will see what happens to Memphis...

It’s a new process. One of the biggest things is there is no appeal. That’s a concern.

As for Football the OLOL thing is not gonna be good for us wish they did that not part of this process.

Keep in mind Kansas has had an open case going with the IARP since summer of 2019 and a decision has yet to be announced. Don’t get to fired up, because this going to be very long and drawn out. 2020-2021 season will be over before a decision is close to being handed down.

What it really means is that the NCAA cant prove anything so they want "outsiders" who can likely be "influenced" to decide with no appeal. The football program is being used to try and "prove" lack of institutional control and likey to try to push the athletic department to help with Wade in order to protect the cash cow, football. Essentially a witch hunt in which we have no recourse to circumvent unless through the courts. If the program is punished hopefully we are the first to just ignore their penalties and go about business as usual. Of course dependent on the SEC helping that cause I'm sure. I'd imagine the courts would come into play majorly if punishment isn't accepted by LSU. There's always a way with lawyers involved.
