LSU would need to win out the regular season, make the SEC title game and at least show out there... And he has to be on each game along the way...

This is an absolute bare minimum. I don’t think it’ll be enough.

If LSU goes to Atlanta and loses, they don’t have a championship, not in the CFP.

Yet the other Heisman hopefuls WILL have won a championship, and be in the CFP—hard to win a Heisman when there’s other great QBs who got their team further along than an SEC “also ran”.

I think LSU would need to win the SEC.

To be seriously considered?
Keep winning & the entire nation will be watching him in a top 15 matchup against Bama on 11/4. If he has a good game against Bama & wins, he will be seriously considered.

If we win out & make it to SEC CG, he probably wins it.

The question was to be seriously considered not what does he need to win it

I mean there is precedent for winners who were on teams that weren't great.

Tebow, Griffin III, and Lamar Jackson come to mind.

Win the SEC. He has zero chance of winning it without at least doing that.

It’s ridiculous because he’s being punished for being on a team with a terrible defense and for playing in a conference that actually does attempt to play defense unlike that shite conference USC is in where all QBs are throwing against air.

I don’t understand why that is the consensus when Caleb Williams just won it after losing their conference championship 47-24

If that was our only loss, he would probably still win it but we have 2 losses already.

Again, not sure why win-loss record really matters here. As stated above, there have been other winners on multiple teams with losses.

USC/Caleb Williams were 11-2 & ranked #10 when he won last year.

Doesn’t seem like a huge step down if LSU finishes 10-3. Of course, what really matters in the discussion is what the other favorites do the rest of the season. Penix, McCarthy, Williams, etc

that and he needs some games with some prime time eyes on him. He had FSU and put up good numbers but LSU lost.

These 11:00 starts aren't doing him any favors.

I will credit the media that it’s really tough to win the heisman twice. Last years was the worst in living memory for me. No one deserved it

If he continues to do what he has been doing and LSU loses 4 or less games I think he'll be in NYC.

I think if we finish 10-2 and he plays well vs Bama and aTm, he will be invited to NY with a shot to win

A lot depends on what USC does, seems like the media wantsWilliams to be a 2 time winner

Think back to when Lamar Jackson won the Heisman, Louisville had 3 losses including the loss to us in the Citrus bowl, yet he won the Heisman that year. Our defense is the problem with our team right now and not his fault. Hopefully if he continues to play as he has thus far, those that get to vote will notice that.

I just don't think it's going to happen for him. We're looking 8-4 right in the face, and that won't get him an invite.

The cheez it bowl is likely going to be Nussmeiers first full game.
